In preparation for taking the coop on a few long road trips this year, I called into Kwik Fit (just for comparisons sake) to get an price for 4 Falken 452's as previously recommended by many of you. However, the guys told me that they do not stock them as they do not think they are a good tyre!?! Instead they recommended Marangoni's. I have never heard of them but apparently they are made by Pirelli and supposedly provide excellent grip in both wet and dry conditions. I have read mixed reviews but none from coop owners, have any of you guys used/heard of them? What are your thoughts? Should I stick to the 452's? Thanks

Thumbs up from me too for the Zeta Lineas, good grip and great tread pattern (had 3 sets now), but they're not "budget" prices any more, but check out Camskill since they stock them now IIRC

Ive always heard on here that the 452's are really good, and popular on this forum. But when I mentioned them to my mate (a 200sx owner) he pretty much laughed and said they were pooey!
Now in the 400+ bhp club!

Check out Continental Sport Contact 2's. Had them fitted to my coop and they are brilliant! They are a bit pricey but an excellent tyre, very responsive and they are currently on offer if you buy them online at kwik fit.

We had these on our 2.5 Turbo S-max, I wasn't impressed, I realise it's a totally different vehicle and probably a "XL" tyre, soft & not good in the wet, we've recently put on Goodyear Asymetrics V. Good , though I couldn't recomend Goodyear Eagle F1's highly enough for the coupe IMO

Marangonis might be good but that kwikfit guy is all sales talk IMO. The wear on the 452's has nothing to do with the tyre.. more likely a car with bad wheel alignment. The blowout and puncture warranty is more a kwikfit scheme rather than Marangoni? That was my first thoughts with the 452 I was shown, I dare say that if he had some in stock, he would have tried to sell me a set. The Marangoni website does talk of a lifetime warranty though.

Looks like marangoni dont do 225 45 16. I run this size for a couple of reasons, better protection of wheels, & they look so much meatier The choice of tyres that you choose in my opinion realy is down to the way you drive The marangoni's are a budget tyre that seems to gets good reviews. Not quite asked about as the oil question, but the what tyre does get a good airing. The Coop deserves the best you can afford, & on here there are tried & trusted favourites, but the choice is yours.
I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

I've had 2 or 3 sets of Marangoni Zeta Linea 225/45 R16, all bought from www.mytyres.co.uk in the past IIRC, niot listed now, and although Camskill now carry Marangoni's, they don't list that size either. It is apparently produced: http://www.marangoni.com/conf/pro_scheda.asp?L=3&sito=11&CPR_ID=100&CCA_ID=0and available elsewhere: http://www.ityre.com/en/tyres/catalog/marangoni/size/47747/ (Ukraine!) but since it's not a popular size, maybe it's not imported to the UK? Perhaps those people that appear to have it http://www.bridgeofdongarage.co.uk/res_1024/bodg_tyretables.php#zetahave got some older ones knocking around (the tyres have a production date on them) If they're not easily available, try something else. I would have gone for Zeta Linea's again this time, but have got Toyo T1-R's now. And I would not classify them as "budget" (that's what the tyre sellers call them to try to get you to feel guilty about being a cheapskate) but in-between budget and premium. Price-wise for me, budget is up to £50 a tyre, mid-range £50-100 and premium above £100 but tyre size influences the price ranges of course.
