Well should have engine back tues/weds ready for fitment, so i reckon around 2weeks and shes back! can't wait!
anyway back to the question.... Basically i'm getting a 12 month warranty on my engine Aslong as i get it mapped within 7 days of me gettimg the car back!

So do i drive car straight down to flea and have it mapped to say 4500 revs for running in, then get map tweaked a few weeks down the line... OR
Do i attempt to clock up around 500 miles within the week and then take car for oil change then go down to bristol and get mapped all the way to 7200 revs?

i honestly don't think the current map will be that far out to cause any damage in the first week as it was mapped just before i took it off the road 9 months ago... all that is changing really is Slightly larger turbo and a much much healthier engine!

Very interested in your oppinions as i do not want another F*&£ked engine after only 6000 miles of rebuild! This is getting expensive now... LOL

I have limited access to the net at the mo so if i don't reply straight away bare with me!

Nick

Hi Nick, good to hear it is almost on the road again. In terms of your current map, as long as you are off boost then there are no issues. I assume the 7 day requirement is simply down to the fact they can't be sure that you (or anyone) wouldn't just drive off and boost away!

Give me a call and I'll give you some options.

The worst thing you can do is cruise down the motorway. Go a back way and give the engine a decent work out (without thrashing it). Try to always be accelerating, going up and down the RPM scale. Make sure its not overfueling before you do this.

I agree. You need some boost to load up the rings, say no more than 0.8Bar and keep below 4000rpm. Use the engine to accelerate as well as decelerate. Go down the road at 30mph in 4th and then full throttle until you reach 0.8 bar or 4000rpm whichever occurs first then let off and let the engine do the breaking. Stick to this technique when driving around as most of the running in will be achieved within the first 50 miles anyhow. I would oil and filter change at 50 miles also. Watch AFR and listen for knock if possiable.
