just started hunting for quotes, coupe insurance runs out on 21st of this month, but i am replacing anyway hopefully with a 350Z

early days yet quotes wise but i had to start somehwere

fiat coupe plus, valued at 3.5k with £400 excess
quoted best £740 so far

nissan 350z valued at 12k with £400 excess
quoted best £680 so far.

coupe standard 220bph
350z standard GT 276bhp

do they spin some blooming wheel to randomly make up these quotes????

As far as I can tell yes. I used to drive a Peugeot 205 gti daily, I then swapped to a rover 45 1.6 and incurred a 60 quid increase, for less performance. Just pulling numbers from a hat I think my be the only way to predict the cost of insurance.

its ok, i got a quote on a honda civic type r when i was 21 and they called me back with a quote of...10k....

i could not stop laughing when they told me!

at first i asked if it was for a finance quote and when she said no i laughed even harder at her!!!

If they don't want the business they come back with a stupid quote, as opposed to no offer, worth a punt in case someone takes it, I suppose.
