I'm in need of new bonnet struts, rang Fiat and got stunned with the price!
n.46316600 (new type) Croatia - 670kn (with VAT) = 80gbp Italy - 62€ + 20% VAT = 75€ = 65gbp (in relation to Cro currency)
What's the price in the UK, if it's still round 25gbp (as stated in "Bonnet struts" FAQ) I'm better off buying 2x and getting it shipped!

Ok, thank You. The cheaper one is a replacement for the Dx "old" style strut - eper 46305241, so in order to work (keeping the bonnet up) needs to be paired with Sx brake-type one (eper 46304290) I'll keep the broom rod in the trunk 'till I decide where to buy from...

Think Rob40 has some. His bonnet is rather heavier than standard. After discussion with the guys they came from they sent some out to try and he sent them back to be altered, they have added some air to them. Because they can not remove air when added they are doing it in stages. Each time he tries them and informs them of his findings. If they are the same company as Rob is using then if some one from the club would like to help get them set up correctly (which it would seam they would like to do to sell as may as possible) then we may have a supply of properly calibrated/set gas struts at a good price.

When I called them to inform that the struts are not working out, they were asking me all sorts of questions like what the original part number is blablabla.. answered all the questions and was told that there is no such part number. They asked if i could send my original struts to them so that they could measure the strength. I asked how they are going to do this if it is not working in the first place! They just replied that they can find out In the end, I told them that i just want a refund as I couldn't be bothered with the hassle and just want a pair of working struts!! They said they would reimburse my postage (for sending the stuff back) but when they finally got the stuff back, not only did they not reimburse my postage but they also deducted the postage from my refund. IMO, just get the original Stabilus Hydro-lift ones from Fiat. Much better quality and just clips into place without the need of removing some silly retaining clip that springs away when you try to undo them.

I've called Fiat again, asked for a "brake type" one, they said 225kn = 27gbp, didn't understand how the pricing structure work but I happily ordered the "old" one... They called me yesterday, saying they quoted the wrong price, it's 1.225 instead of 225kn, 147gbp vs. 27gpb, and asked me if I'm still interested... yeah, if it's 5,5 times the original price, I'll immediately take 2, thank You very much Sir!!! guess I'll be keeping the broom rod; maybe even polish it or paint red, to match the cylinder head
