Why's it Black?

I've only seen LE's with the chrome ones, what gives?

I've been thinking of getting that one off ebay (the chrome one), buy it now of a £115 though

Its not Black - photo might be a tad dark, but its the correct LE grey.

LE fuel caps were never chrome.

hmm, couldn't see a difference in the photos that i've got .

got any photos of the LE one in good light?

I'm seriously thinking about getting the LE one as a replacement, although not sure whether it would look ok on the 'plus'

I think the usual chrome one would probably look better on yours Duncan, as yours is a light colour and you have silver wheels

Can't you refurbish yours Duncan? Or even get someone to refub for you?

Depends how much spare money you have to spend with regards to the new one. I know I wouldn't pay for a new one.

Have a go a cleaning yours up/refurbing it, you'll be surprised what a difference it'll make and save you some money too

Or buy a secondhand one that needs a refurb, so you can have a practice/play. They normally sell for no more than around £25.

Duncan, if you're struggling to get yours to look 'as new' even after polishing you could always send it away for re-chroming at a fraction of the cost of a new cap from Fiat.

They were never chromed. They are all just polished and sealed, except for the painted LE ones.

Taz had his chromed and it looks fantastic, trouble is you have to remove the hinge bits IIRC.

Does it come with a colour coded barrel?

As Bockers said, I had a spare cap chromed for Barbz as an experiment.

Only probably was the shop had to drill out the old hinge pin & then carefully remove the spring loaded fuel cap seal ( on the inner face of the cap, hard to do, as I bust one ! ).

The cap looked awesome when chromed, then the shop fitted a new stainless pin.

I think Barbz still has it

Mine looks ok, but the catch isn't working great (I know there is a how-to on this)

I could just kill two birds with one stone by buying a new one.

Guys just to revive this whilst I'm away from the car - anyone tell me how to remove the cap from the car to refurb?
Is it just those bolts under the cap where it mates to the body?

Just unscrew the bolts inside the cap. Once you've removed the bolts you'll have to wiggle and pull the cap at the same time. It's glued down with that black sticky gunk but it will come off eventually

Do it on a hot day (which is a rare occurrence )

Removed my cap guys - that black sticky gunk that mates it to the body - presumably that stops water leaking in......
What can I use to re-fit my replacement? Will Plumbers Mait do?!
