I went & viewed my old Broomer yesterday, it's still in nice condition, obviously has a few more cosmetic issue additions, mainly the Alloy's. The seller is a helpfull/accomodating guy.

It was Joe 'Munchkin' then Chris 'TwistyWizard' before myself, I sold it in late 07 & it's only done 13K since then & has had all the belts done again. It's now on 110K

The air-con still doesnt work (no great suprise there for a coupe! lol)

One thing I did notice that concern me a bit - the coolant wasn't up to full temp (around 70) & the oil pressure was 2 bar on idle & dropped to 1.5 bar at 90 degrees when the fans kicked in.

It never went top-scale even when revved/under load, about a couple of needles widths below 3 bar - what do you think?.

He said the oil has been changed - but it's not documanted what oil is in it - he doesnt know.

Well worth a look, it's on eBay now:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1997-FIAT-COUPE-20...=item1c13146483

I want it back frown - but I now have a bloody issue with my Puma, that has led to me pulling it off eBay ABS/TC lights come on - only looks like a wheel sensor, but it's inconvenience!.

I have decided to service the Puma & put new discs & pads on before re-listing, so this will be gone I expect when I'm in a position to buy a Coupe

you know your stuff J, and i'm sure you will make a good decision....the oil might just be too thin for it, but 1.5 bar is no disaster is it, if everything else is ok? it's whether you want to spend on it i suppose, but the same could be said of any coupe/car you don't know. at least you know the history of this and what's been done to it? smile

The oil pressure is nothing to worry about, 1.5 bar is still acceptable especially when fully warm in hot weather

Yea smile lol if it was a dog now the feeling wouldn't be the same but apart from a few more chips/scuffs etc it's still nice.

Out of the 4 Coupes I have had, this is one I regret selling!, the other was my last, the Sprinty.

Oh BTW anyone interested I have shed loads of photos of this Including the 5 photos of the compression test (albeit was 13K ago + any info on history uptil 97K

Yes I know 1.5 Bar is acceptable when very hot - I actually thought it has had oil in it that is too thin. the thing that concerned me was it dropped to 2 Bar quite quick from barely warm

My reason for thinking this was he couldn't tell me what oil was actually in it

but it was a scorcher yesterday!.

I know what you mean, my first coupe was a broomer, something special about that colour, must be the contrast with the dash stip or the head turning effect smile

My reading of this situation is that you never really got over the loss of the Coupe.
I know you say that you were 'right' about the two of you splitting up and you also say that you 'put it all behind you', but I don't think you have.
Your reaction to the Coupe is not that of someone who has got over that relationship – and you know that.
This may say something about the state of your relationship with the Puma. In fact it may say even more about that relationship than it does about the original one.
You describe your Puma as a 'bloody issue'. That is not, frankly, the same thing as if you'd said, 'I am desperately in love with it...' so maybe, whatever happens with your old Coupe, your responses to the Coupe will show you that the Puma is not the one for you long term.

The Puma is nice car, it does 45mpg on a run the air-con is so cold you can't keep it on all the time!, drives handles nice & is near mint

But it's not a coupe!

The reason for the 'Bloody Issue' comment wasn't about the car or fault itself, it was referencing to the timing - i.e. something goes wrong with 20 hours left on the eBay auction grr

JLow75, here is a comparison of the Coop and the Puma.

Coop: Monica Bellucci. You wouldn't kick her out of bed for farting.

Puma: a normal woman. "I'm sorry but you can't have my last Rolo. It's over. You're fired!"

Why do you think I regret getting rid laugh

The change-over was purely financial - I'd just brought a house & my outgoings were increasing by nearly £300 a month & I thought I wouldn't be able to afford to run & maintain a coop to the standard it needs & deserves

I should have at least gave it a go!

Hi Jamie,

Is there any way you could borrow the money short term to enable you to but your old Broomer back before you get shot of the Puma?

Or maybe even have a word with the seller and put a deposit down on it until you sell your Puma (might be clutching at straws on that one).

smile

JLow75,

I am frowning pondering the oil pressure issue. How does the displayed readings compared to when you owned the car?

The temperature reading and when the fan kicks in, indicates the same possible problem or a separate one?

The temperature and fans kicking in points at the thermostat?

Why not just go there and change the oil to check if it improves the pressure?

Think it's all irrelevant now anyway, as I can't shift my car + I think he now has a buyer.

Plus I've all but abandoned the idea of getting another Coupe for financial reasons frown

Thermostat & temp sensor were working fine as far as I could tell, warmed up fairly quick when driving & idling went upto 90 degrees & rad cooling fans kicked in
