Hi all,

Filling up from when the petrol light came on the other day, I managed to get 55 Litres in, now this has probably been brought up on countless occasions. but I'm assuming that if it's a 63 litre tank, I've got at least 5 litres(maybe 30 miles) left to use safely as long as I don't park up on a hill smile Has anybody managed to get much more in? I'm just scared of breaking down in the middle of nowhere to test the theory frown

I've gone as far as 57 litres but as was mentioned in an old thread, it uses a submersible pump so needs a few litres in there to work.

Yes, I spent a very embarrassing couple of hours waiting for the AA after I lost power going a gradual hill. I knew the fuel light was on so I put in 5L of fuel from the spare can and there was no change so I thought it must have sucked some rubbish up from the bottom of the tank... or something even more awful. Coupe paranoia can really get to you in two hours!

Another 5L and she fired right up.

The point is, the swirl tank will allow the pump to gather pretty much all the petrol up *provided* you don't stop pumping. Once you've stopped, you need at least ten litres and sometimes more in before it will start again.

I've filled up past 57 litres before now...

I've filled up 62.3 litres.

At the time the fuel guage didn't work and I was using the trip to guesstimate.

I've had in around 61-62 litres - was on a trip in germany and was really struggling to find a petrol station after a good two hour blast from frankfurt back to munchengladbach - I was very relieved to finally find a station and even more so when I realsied exactly how little must have been left in there.
