Hi all,

I have a baileys dv26 (dump to atmosphere), I can't for the life of me remember when it started or if it was always there but when I am cruising and come of the gas or change gear I can hear some chatter, this is with little or perhaps no boost.
Its not like the psssst I get on full boost when I come off the gas.

The kid in me likes the chatter sound but I don't think it should be happening? Can anyone just confirm if this means the dump valve is definately no good anymore.

Cheers
John

You will have people coming on here telling you its bad and you will have people coming on telling you it will be ok...... Are you running a standard turbo??? Probably Bad, are you running a uprated turbo?? Probably wont cause any ill affects.
Lets be honest the Dump valve only helps reduce turbo lag when the cars is being gunned so at low boost a bit of chatter in my opinion is fine!
Mine Chatters at low boost levels due to the spring im using (yellow) most people run a green spring which i did for a while sure it got rid of all the chatter but i suffered other ill effects which annoyed me far worse namely plugs getting sooted up and failing!

I always had a little bit of "chatter" it's just because there's not enough vacuum for the valve to dump the boost fully. I wouldn't worry about it! You could clean the DV, it may be sticking a little. Or replace with a Forge...

Coopless!

Thank you very much guys, I won't worry about it much but might try and swop it for one that I believe to work for a while and do a few runs to see if the car feels any different.

Cheers
John
