I like to tootle about when she's not warm, but when I feel like it I'll keep her in second right up to just before the redline, and same again in the next gear, up to the next.. I pity anyone that doesn't enjoy this car's lusty performance to the full!

Driving the Coupe can be compared to sex.

A bit of foreplay to warm things up first, followed by passionate driving and then finally you take it easy.

However, unlike sex, make sure you don't start leaking any fluids.

..and don't let the coop go on top or you may be crushed. Fccuk take no responsibility should you become HGV positive.

@daithi28 a cut for your post:

Having a degree in Economics, I can categorically state that it’s a false economy to drive a Fiat Coupé sedately, as the marginal monetary saving made in burning less fuel during the course of the drive is significantly outweighed by the loss in excitement and sense of occasion. Or in layman’s terms, driving sedately on a 20 min drive would save you 25p in fuel, but you would have happily paid 40p for the experience and excitement of a 20 min spirited drive in the 1st instance. You lost 40p’s worth of fun to save 25p.

Absolutely brilliant and FACT lol.
now everytime i have over 1/4 tank of juice, im going have that running through my mind hahaha

Ah, but with due regard to the demand-economics theorists - everything has both a cost and a benefit. Sometimes, you need to consider the cost-benefit ratio of not eating...

Coupe's being so cheap these days, may as well thrash the truck out of it. When it goes pop....just buy a new one. Simples

As fast as possible with conditons and traffic always taken into consideration (joking of course rofl) .
Part of the reason for the "pants" fuel consumption I think although I may be wrong wink

Gently at first, then when she's warmed up bury the right foot untill a funny noise makes you think something is about to drop off/ go bang, then back to old man mode for a couple of minutes untill i think lifes to short to worry about repair bills and drop a gear and floor it again!

I usually take it easy and just tootle about on the wave of torque, too lazy to change gear but occasionally i love to boot it in 2nd, what a killer gear smile and the 3rd gear/100mph is indeed true, on a private stretch of road of course officer

What actually is the fuel consumption of a 20v Turbo (normal driving, and loving it driving?)

Spirited driving? 22 - 27 mpg in my 5-speed Scottie.

Long distance cruising? 37 - 42 mpg in the 6-speed Moon.

Tracking? 8 - 12 mpg (never past 4th gear, and NEVER in my cars; too scared of breaking them crazy )

Part throttle acceleration in second gear? 2.9mpg... but you don't do it for very long!

Commuting - 60 miles each way, mix of motorway, dual carriageway, and single carriageway, with thirteen roundabouts, 32-33mpg (in a 20vt standard).

..... and a ticket to Thorpe Park will cost you £25. The second/third gear rush might cause a hole in the ozone layer but mother nature will have fixed this before the grin has been wiped off your face.... laugh

Slow & steady is the order of the day for me 99% of the time and I always let her warm up to the point the thermostat has opened before I use any more than 20 or 25% throttle and go over 2500rpm. I'm often holding people up in 30mph zones by actually sticking to 30mph and I can go for 2 or 3 weeks without a good blast but even when I do I tend to change up at 6000rpm max. The car seems to be at its best when wafting along fast A roads in 3rd & 4th between 3000 - 5500rpm. Seems a waste in some ways but it makes the occassional blast feel that bit more exciting, and having owned turbo'd Fiat's since 1994 that's always been my approach so as not to get 'used' to the horsepower and hence wish for more evil

shocked Do you slow down for them roundabouts Neil! I must get about 10 mpg less than you shocked Though I think I might still have a fuel leak (JTB fixed one under the bonnet) as it smells like a space shuttle launch when you park up and walk behind the car.

Yeah, I have to slow down; it's the acceleration out of the roundabout that keeps the consumption down. On the diesel, it's about ten percent worse going to work than on a longer trip with fewer roundabouts.

Mostly like I'm stuck in traffic once again. (Back in my day, kids would walk to school...) Otherwise, always off turbo, but with a VIS growl. wink

Im not the slowest driver in the world, but on the roads even Theresa called me tame.
Im more aware of other drivers and stones chipping my unchipped paintwork.

After rolling a new evo 7 5ish times followed by hitting a tree followed by several stitches and a fractured skull i no longer push the cars on the road.

Around the track it gets brutally murdered.
