Just fitted a hybrid and FMIC and although I am waiting for Leighton to map it next week,it is a lot slower than before (standard GT28 Flea mapped at 261bhp). Leighton said it should feel quicker and he will need my car for at least 2 days to check it out. Starting to wish I kept the old set up going. Any ideas of what could be wrong....am I missing something ? Thanks, Paul

what boost controller are you using?
do you have a boost gauge? if so what is it boosting to?

I am in work at the moment so it's not that easy to get the time guys but thanks for the advice and I will try to get a look at it before Tuesday...then it is at leightons. Both boost gauges are showing negative pressure when I start up so not too sure about a boost leak unless it is only under load. The IC pipes looked ok but I will give it another looking at. I can't even get it to wheel spin now and it was doing that in 2rd on the standard turbo. paul

Cheers Matt. I will have a look on Monday and check all the jubilees. One thing I did notice, when you boot it and you normally get the "whoosh" sound....I am now getting like a double "whoosh" sound off the dump valve.Don't know if this could mean anything ? Paul

Simple test if the dump valve is leaking, try removing it and bunging up the pipes, if your boost level goes through the roof then you've found the source of the problem.

When you boot it. It will be the same just pottering about then when you floor it and the boost goes up it will go up a lot more if your dump valve was leaking and you blocked it off. I would back off straight away if it does this, and re-adjust your boost controller to the correct boost level.

Don't think I have a boost leak although I may be wrong. Just booted it in third on the way home from work and the highest I could get the boost was 0.9 Bar. It was boosting at 1.2 Bar after the flea map but before the FMIC and hybrid. May just need mapping and I hope that is the reason. It holds 0.9Bar pretty steady mind. Think I will just wait till Flea gets it on Tuesday. Paul

Have you still got the standard ebv? Or are you using a bleed valve? Your ebv may be malfunctioning? Just a thought

I'd just buy a cheap manual boost controller fit that and see what happens, it could be the actuator aswell.

It is not plumbed in yet Leon. I am still running off the old flea map which was 1.2 Bar at 261 bhp mate.

The FMIC is a restriction, and therefore you will have to set the boost higher to compensate in most cases.
I've said on here numerous times that a restrictive FMIC can LOOSE you power....if you have a boost leak then this will be the issue though. There will be a big difference between 0.9 and 1.2 bar on turbos that are not that different in size...
Why are you booting the car before it is mapped properly...not the cleverest of things to do IMO, just give the car to Flea and let him give you his thoughts.

I only booted it briefly after advice off flea and this was only once or twice for a few seconds. Just to see what max boost I was getting. My plan is to just let flea sort it anyway.

There will be a big difference between 0.9 and 1.2 bar on turbos that are not that different in size... Wow that is one restrictive FMIC, -0.3 bar Highwayman did some tests on the PA FMIC. Here's the story: IC - intercooler Standard intercooler is okay but after a couple of laps on the track the inlet air tends to get a little bit too hot. Now it is time to change to a front mounted intercooler. I bought one from Pro Alloy (UK). Testing on a 20VT indicated:
Before (Standard WMIC) Ambient temperature – 11.5 degrees Boost Pressure before I/C – 0.85 bar @ 6000rpm Outlet temperature – 55 degrees Boost Pressure after I/C – 0.7 bar
After (Pro Alloy FMIC) Ambient temperature – 15.3 degrees Boost Pressure before I/C – 0.85 bar @ 6000rpm Outlet temperature – 29 degrees Boost Pressure after I/C – 0.8 bar
In summary, a 26 degree drop in charge temperature on a 3.8 degree warmer day, plus only 0.05 bar drop in boost pressure as opposed to 0.15 bar with the standard WMIC. The rule of thumb is that for every 10 degree drop in temperature, you gain 3% more power, so at fairly modest boost, I gained around 8% . I can’t swear that this will be true for higher boost levels, but the car feels much improved and noticeably more powerful. Torque is also greatly improved in the mid-range. The kit works with the standard induction pipework and air filter if required, but for best results it is a good idea to have a straight induction kit fitted as well.

yep - the pro Alloy is a quality kit, but it's not cheap - so people go for cheaper altnernatives.

i can't comment on the turbo revs one as I never tested it, but there are plenty of cheap intercoolers out there that have a high pressure drop - which means a big turbo would be needed to compensate.

Flea has it now anyway. I am also trying to buy another turbo, stage 3 hybrid. I will then shot that in and sell the other 2 turbos (1 standard and 1 hybrid)
