im thinking of parting with my 98R coupe but realy dont know howmuch to expect as i have poured cash in it & know i wont recover it back...

In the last 18months its had:

New brakes all round
New bosch battery
New cambelt
New bushes/ball joint
New manifold/repaired
New performance plugs
New air/oil/fuel filters
Oil & filter change every 5000 mile
Blitz adjustable dumpvalve
K&n induction kit
Tim boost gauge
Expensive pioneer mp3 player
Uprated pioneer speakers
Color coded centre consol
Grey 20vt alloys fitted
17" fox alloys (need tyres not fitted)
Rear spoiler (needs paint not fitted)
2-3 bar all the time

Im sure theres more but most expensive jobs have been done...

The bad bits or things to do are:

the bonnet & roof has abit of laquer peeling but i had planned to fit l.e kit & give full respray..

the n/s/r brake somtimes squeels probably due to lack of use.. a jet wash normaly sorts it, has new brakes fitted so i will try remove & clean if i get time...

i have noticed that the clutch pedal somtimes feels abit higher than normal but seems to pull fine, was going to replace clutch (could be me as i drive 3 different cars)

what do you think guys, howmuch as it is...

more pics to come....

forgot to mention 4m tax 10m mot & boosts at over 1bar but not sure if chipped.... has tan leather aswell

Sunny, I'm just down the road from you, just south of Sheffield. Is your Coupe still for sale?

HPI clear?
How much MOT left please?
On the advert on Pistonheads, you mention recent cambelt. What about the tensioners and water pump?
Oil pressure readings please?

If I was to self insure, either through my own broker, or one of the day-insure places, would you be happy for me to have a decent test drive, (thinking a good 30 minutes?).
when would be a good time to come and view please?

Cheers.

its still for sale & its hpi clear will get back to you on the exact mot date... as for the cambelt i have receipts for cam belt change & can even take you to the garage thats done the work.... i use the same mechanic on all my cars & has worked on thissince i had it

i would be happy to go on a test drive like normal but why do you need half hour+? not sure anyone would do that just to avoid tyre kickers.... unless its a main dealer.
i can assure you it takes me to coventry/birmingham more or less every weekend & like all cars you can tell within the first drive if its a dog.. i could even probably stop at sheffield for you but would be on a weekend or your free to come any time during the week..

as for price i wont budge from £1200 any less im keeping it.

thanks

IMO 30 minutes is a minimum to really test drive a car of this nature. Bearing in mind that I usually fully warm up the car to operating oil temperature without giving it any loud pedal. If I were to show my car to a potential buyer I'd then take it for a hard drive followed by a good warm down.

This is how I usually drive mine and I rarely see a spirited drive that's shorter than 45 minutes.

Sunny, I'll be frank and to the point, so please don't take any offence, as none is intended.

£1200 is a lot of money to me, especially at the moment with work being so slack. I understand that you are a long term poster and respected forum member, but personally I don't know you from Adam. The reason why I would like a decent test drive isn't to have a jolly and a raz in someone elses car, (I have a TVR, Land Rover and a Seat of my own to choose from if I wanted to do that), but to get comfortable in a car that I have never driven and ensure that everything is as described with no hidden problems.

If you are not happy about someone test driving your Coupe for such a length of time prior to purchase, then I will fully respect your decission.

As I said, no offence intended.

Cheers.

i have a ford st & a bmw for sale aswell but the amount of time wasters i have had is unreal....

i dont mind going for a test drive i live next to the m62 or even have nice country roads to test on just call me to arrange.
you can check the car , anything i found is in the add :

1. laquer peel on bonnet & roof (booked in for a full respray after my golf so if not sold befor that i will be keeping it for another year)

2. clutch pedal somtimes feels high (hence price drop)

3. rear break somtimes squeels (easy diy will try sort it)

to anyone buying it:
if there is anything else you find i have a spare coupe & you can swap anything over it needs... (i dont think it needs anything or i would of done it)

to sum it up you cant go wrong for £1200 i put that in just parts & labor so giving the car away realy.. even though to me it seems ok but at the most might need a clutch soon so i have knocked £300 off origional asking price of £1500.

if its cheap your after i have a clean ink black S reg 20vt for £550 that needs a bottom end but theres plenty engines about so you could build it to your own service/spec & it would stand you at less...

i only need to sell one of thease & im keeping the other unless you want both for £1750 so you can fix or use as spares...

wouldn't worry "too" much about the clutch pedal being high.

Mine has been high since it was fitted (along with new slave), and what what I've read its just another occasional "feature" of the coop laugh

sometimes they're high and sometimes they're not smile
