Coupe ownership has now passed 2 months laugh Mechanicals and paintwork are either done or under control (?) so it is time to sort out the ICE. The sound quality from CDs is brilliant, I assume NOT from the original speakers, but the radio reception (from the original Clarion) is rubbish and I cannot live without my 5Live and Radio 4 LW.

I presume that an external radio aerial is a no-no on a Coupe, but I think a DAB aerial can be put on the outside of the windscreen. Has anyone experience of this, and recommendations as to unit would be greatfully received idea I do not want a bolt-on addition but a complete new unit. There is a JVC unit with a USB socket for my IPod but this runs in at £300 plus fitting plus aerial; Don't mind spending the money but some advice would be useful!

Thanks in advance

Hi as iv stated before, jvc is the only ones that are still producing DAB stereos, have a look on car audio security and Car audio direct, stay away for the cowboys a the audio center franchises.

You can always look on eBay for DAB

I had a JVC DAB radio in my Coupe when I had it. It used a DAB aerial which was a thin strip stuck to the inside of the windscreen. It worked fine and picked up the same amount of DAB stations as I got on my home DAB radio.
Clicky
I still have the DAB radio sitting in the garage (without the aerial, it didn't come off well !)
It's a JVC KD-LHX601, could be up for sale if you fancy it?

Blaupunkt do this internal aerial, http://www.bluespot.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/7617495203-aerial - came free with my Nashville radio but it seems now the aerial is sixty quid and Blaupunkt no longer make that.

It's a good aerial, though - not sure I'd recommend the Nashville; some genius designed the buttons so you can't tell which one you're on without looking. Silly, for a car...

Very true. It has an Aux in option which I used for my MP3 player (non iPod) very satifactorily by using a phono cable. Doesn't have the nice options of iPod control from the headunit though.

Boysie,
IPod connection is not crucial for my Coupe; DAB Radio is!! tongue I also have a very small MP3 player which would serve fine (provided I have a good supply of AA batteries) and I still have the CD Changer if your unit can handle this. PM me if you still want to sell it - although I live in Kent I am going to see Flea on Friday 13th smile shocked and even with my limited knowledge of geography Bristol isn't too far from Cheltenham!!

Cheers,
Tim42
