Think 350 lb/ft is. Who mapped it? on track will get hotter charge temps and mapping becomes very important.

yes you are over the limit really 350 is pushing it so you are over for sure and if you are going to track it then you wont want to run it anywhere near its limit if you want to do more than a lap or two.. what turbo are you using and at what boost is it producing 388 what are your supporting mods? i have run 358 with standards but it was as safe as it could be with the mapping and supporting mods..the car stil runs well with its new owner while i am building a 450+ forged effort

you really need to get it mapped asap and before that turn the boost down!
I think audioguys sig sums it up really

Whatever you decide to do, I'd get saving some pennies for a forged build then you can push it as far as you want. Dont expect the standard engine to last forever at that power level but it might be alright if you dont drive it on the limit all the time.

you really need to go to fc performance (on traders section here) and get it mapped he will make it as safe as it can be and give you good advice as well..good luck with it

As KTM says - what is the full mods list..... An unmapped car running that power is asking for it to pop IMO - and that is on the road. On track you'll be going home on a trailer...... In answer to your question no one I know has run that power through the standard engine without it going bang shortly after. The rods will stand 350 lbs /ft, but the stock pistons wont like the 1.5 bar you are putting through them - even with optimal fuelling in the long term. I would be very interested in seeing a dyno graph from a T34 turbo'd coupe.

t34 on a 20vt.... That's different! what were your torque figures and what size exhaust housing you using... 63 a/r? impressive power from the old turbo although you should go see flea and get proper map done.... I'm assuming the turbo is just old style journal bearing and not rollerbearing?
i'd be interested to see your dyno print out as i'm also running some type of t34 on my rebuilt 16vt... Mine is old school journal bearing tho!
nick The turbo is a journal bearing with 0.63 exhaust housing and 0.60 on the compressor side , torque is 340lb/ft i'll post the rr print out if I can figure out how to do it.

pistons mostly but if going to put them in you might as well do rods as if you decide to go bigger you will need rods

The 20VT has a decent head gasket on it - unlike a lot of the Jap stuff - no need to change it.
Very few issues with valves - they are sodium filled as stock.
Pistons will be the main issue - and the stock rods will be fine with what you are running unless you plan to go for more at a later stage.
if you limit the boost to 1.3-1.4 bar then the stock pistons will not go in five mins, but they wont last they way they would on a stock engine.
Your biggest issue is going to be the fuelling - if your rolling road has a printout of it then post it up so we can have a look.
You would be better off with bigger injectors and a live map - but there are plenty of cars that run an extra injector, some consider it a bodge - some dont.
There is nothing wrong with the old t series turbos, just most people on here run hybrid T28's or GT series turbos as it been done before.
There are plenty of people that vouch for the T3 and T4 turbos as being far more reliable than the GT turbos.
Are you running a high flow fuel pump?

It looks like the car was only run to 6,000 rpm and then coasted down?
There is no fueling trace on that printout - do you have one?

I would have thought torque would hold a lot better than that - it just seems to peak and then drop off?

That's the full run Si, you can see it hit the standard 6800 limiter.
With a remap I could find you torque across the full rpm range i.e. 10+lbs/ft off boost, 20-30lbs/ft in the mid-range, quicker turbo spool and the same power for less boost at the top.
No need for a 5th injector either! if that does't tempt you you must be a trappist monk and all safe to boot! go on you know you want to or must do really

That's about right if it is between those two values throughout the rev range when on boost.
