Howdy,

I've been going around getting qoutes for a full respray because the paint on my coop is diabolical to say the least.

Today I went to somebody who does alot of business with the company my mum runs so I was hoping for a nice freindly discount.

He basically said to me "whatever you can take off yourself will save you money".
I asked him - like what?
He said, everything. Windows, rubbers, wing mirrors, bumpers, badges, lights... crazy

So, what I'd like to know is : what sort of things are easily removable and easy enough to stick back on at home with limited experience in this sort of thing? Obviously I dont want to take anything off which I cant stick back on without knackering the paintwork.
I live in a terrace house with no drive or garage, so Im quite limited just because of those aspects.

Any help would be great. Im not exactly loaded (im a student) so obviously I'd love to keep the costs down if I can.

Cheeeeeeeers smile

if you want a good job you need to strip rubber seals mirror everything, if you want a crappy job then dont remove anything and just mask it out...

Also if you do some of teh filling and sanding / prep work yourself that will save you $$$ however ive never gone into that so cant comment laugh

When it comes to prep work its that what makes a decent paint job so if you've no experience and you don't mind your car being a learning curve for yourself then carry on I mean yea itl save you money but itl probably look like it too...

Stripping the car will be the best way to save. Can you not park the car where your sprayer would and strip it there he'd have ti do that anyway

Easy things if you have a socket set and some Allen key sockets are:
headlights
side lights
side repeaters
tail lights
door mirrors
badges
slightly more involved but still quite easy is the front bumper but the undertray has to come off first so you need access under the car.
boot lid is easy

All those will save 2 hours labour costs.

Windows are more involved and unless you can guarantee no rain I'd leave them.
