Couple of questions you have to ask yourself here. Are you keeping the Coop for a while? do you want to spend X amount of money on the repair? From the pics it doesn't look too bad. The answer is cut out & make good metal. OK a bit easier said than done. Sorry to sound cheesey & to coin a phrase....The choice is yours.

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

Not good is it? Mine's got a couple of small patches of rust. This is going to be the issue for coops in the next few years frown

Coopless!

Bloody hideous did the fuel filter 18 months ago and all was clear under there. Rust coated and painted stuff 12 months ago and did not remove the cover and do underneath.
Furious with my self.
But there is a pipe in there perhaps that is the rear washer pipe? How can so much rust appear under there? Wonder if the pipe leeks and has pooled under there in side???

I said awhile ago that I would keep it until it rusted. Never specified how rusty but its just getting a bit much. It will need to go to a professional. But just replacing the bad bits will not be enough, it needs to be dealt with.
Stan posted a link to These guys a while ago. So once the rots removed its 300 quid for a bit of protection.
Then I suppose annual replication of the protective coat.

Nothing structural has a hole, yet.

Any one interested in a group buy / FCCUK meet at a rust proofing experts? smile

What is the pipe that goes through the grommet in picture two running left to right?

Ta Dave I said didn't I that I had to stop the rust this year to save it.

Bugger and sod.

Well I just pushed a screwdriver through the side of my boot.
Plans? Depends how much it will cost. Car can't be worth much but if I scrap/brake it so how much do I have to spend on a new car? Don't want another coupe, want this one. Get a good Shell? How much to move the parts?
So you can get a coupe for under a grand and use my one as a donor for everything that will brake.
What can I get that is a comfy GT with a turn of speed?

Hate to tell you this Jack, but my boot floor was like that a year or so ago - its coming from the other side - the section where the boot floor and wheelarch are joined - apparently, its a real PITA to repair, and when we removed my wheelarch liner, we were greeted with this

It was enough to confirm that my car was to be scrapped frown

firstly i am sorry to here about the car mate

please don't think i am trying to profit from your misfortune , i just thought i would mention it as an option as i haven't got it advertised

just in case you decide to go down this route i have a mint car with boken engine..very high spec from braided hoses to coilovers..no dints no rust at all anywhere
full le kit
i would make it standard spec if you like if you decide you need one

you could sell your kit and all the bits to off set some of the cost..i just thought it might help although its noot your own at least you would have a nice coop again

good luck with whatever you decide
rob

Ah bad luck Jef frown I'm worried about mine now! To be honest, If I was you, I'd sell the parts off that coop and buy another one that's rot free. They're cheap enough now. A lot less hassle and probably cheaper.

Coopless!

Truffle's in your boot? laugh
Mine does have rust colour by the seams frown It's still solid, but worrying nonetheless.
