I've only had mine 3 weeks, and I love it to bits! I'm still driving my Honda Civic Type R, as I've taken a deposit on it and will be seeing it go in two weeks time. I can't wait for it to actually go so I can drive my coop again!!

If I had to commute to work i'd sell my coupe (I wouldn't want to rack up the miles on it) and I had a civic type r on the short list as a commuter car.

I guess they're like chalk and cheese but which one do you enjoy driving the most?

They are very different cars to drive. Having never owned a turbo car before, I must say I just love driving the coop. I've had my Honda for 5 years now, and the ride is less hard so it's probably a better car to commute to work.

The coop is another thing in traffic with my 6 paddle helix clutch, so I will have to see if it will drive me mad or not!

How does the performance compare to the type r? Having never owned a type r before, i would imagine the coupe is much easier to drive 'fast' if that makes sense due to the torque available straight away and being turbocharged smile

I could never imagine the type r being quicker than the 20v turbo, especially mid range, probably just 'feels' quicker

The Civic defo doesn't feel quicker. Saying that, my coop is not standard and doing around 290bhp. Getting back into the Civic, it felt like a lawnmower, lol.

Well, any ive encountered, ive easily left them behind and their engines were screaming, i love the 'lazy' torque in the coupes smile are the type r's more tiring to drive on a daily basis as i find the coupe extremely comfortable/relaxing? looking at the 0-100 times for the type r its around the late 16 second mark, coupe is 14.5. sounds about right

Define 'quicker'?

Round corners a stock CTR vs. a stock coupe will be CTR all the way.

Once over 60mph the coupe is a fair bit quicker in a straight line. A stock coupe feels far more like a GT cruiser. If the CTR is not being thrashed in the VTEC zone it wont keep up at all.

i had a really good comparison against a 53 plate 2 years ago in my 20vt porto i used to go to germany in..
my coupe a 98 was std in every way bar a backbox at the time and i had a duel with this one just to satisfy my curiosity as new they were n.a and quick. gradually pulled a few car lengths but defo slower in the bends unless you take a quickest line route!! prefer a coupe but would be nice to try one.think a ctr around a track may be quicker std for std...newer ones are supposed to be worse not better!

Yeah there's not a great deal in it on the straights, though the coupe is quicker.

Never been a fan of them though really, always remind me of a bread van and far too common/boy racer-ish.

Love The NSX - R and 'teg type r's however.

Given the difference in torque (std 220lb/ft of the coupe vs 145lb/ft of the Type R) I can't imagine the Type R could ever feel as quick as the coop.

I've been in a Type R before and they do feel quick but not as much as the coop.

Nice car, feels like it handles on rails, I'd certainly have one if I was commuting, still a powerful hatch-back but less things to go wrong on them smile

Don't get me wrong, I love my CTR, but you always have to rinse the bollocks out of it to get the best out of it. Comparing the handling of my Civic with that of the coop, I would say the coop wins hands down. Again, this could be due to the coop being lowered with bilteins/eibachs all round. The Civic suffers greatly from understeer and it's nearly caught me out a few times going fast around bends.

It's a great car to commute in though. The clutch is as light as a feather and the ride is pretty comfortable compared to the coop.

lol, I was rushing to type that as I was at work type

perhaps I should have quoted the torque figure on the 1.2 bar overboost, call it approx 280lb/ft smile

type r's are great cars really, my mate has one and i've always been impressed with it.

can only really echo comments above - feels like its on rails, really nice engine note at 9000rpm as well thumb

looks - well fairly obviously a coupe wins hands down, even a sprint blue.

they do like to be thrashed though (and you are rewarded for it) but 'normal' driving is pretty sedate.
