How can I tell if im running lean without a rr session or buying a crap gauge off of ebay (heard they're inaccurate).

Are there better quality gauges out there?

You cant, unless you decide to buy a wideband lamdba sensor (£200-ish) or a power run on a RR (£50-ish)

The only acceptable methods are on a RR or using a wideband lambda connected to a boss on your down pipe and then with a suitable test, tested on the road.

Probably the on-the-road test is better in many ways because the engine is feeling the full load of driving and getting proper cooling.

Send a pm to him or look on ebay, its loads faster and theres no boost limit in first or second so loadsa wheel spin!

Just make sure you have boost guage and get a rolling road session booked.

Hi a question to anyone who can help. I'm taking my car to Wigan Paul on tuesday to fit my gtech 1 chip and boost gauge (the one that fits in the clock i know i only have a small budget). Is it right to fit a PRV at the same time or should that happen later. What should the gauge be set at i'm new to all this. Many on this site mention 1.2bar is this the gauge pressure? Thanks to anyone who can help.

I believe the PRV is what you use to set the pressure. Without it the guage will just be telling you what the boost pressure is but you'll have no ability to change it.

first of all welcome to the FCCUK, second, its not a must to install the PRV at the same time, but if you have any problems on your EBV (which is very common) you will face the pulsing problem after fitting the chip and this can be only sorted by a PRV or any other controller.

i recommend to fit the PRV at the same time and believe me you will notice a big difference in your car.

You can set your boost pressure to what ever you want, a gtech i chip is specifically made for 1.2 bar pressure, so you might as well go 1.2 bar. or if you want you can go 1.0 bar or anywhere in between. But for maximum grins per pound go 1.2 bar

when you say set to 1.2 bar is this the PRV that does this? Sorry about the dumb question.

Yes, a PRV has a turn screw at the end and via on road testing and reading your boost gauge, you keep turning this screw until you gauge only reads as high as 1.2

agree with Jimo

but take care when you are doing this, be patient do one turn each time and check the boost on the gauge.

anyway cosmo will get you the installation procedure with the PRV.
