guys,
will the EVO chip work (reasonably well for a while... until I built a proper program) on my planned mods:
GT28R racing cat/70mm exhaust (most likely not 76) smallish custom FMIC C&B cams (road maximum) a bit of headwork...
cheers

Thanks Saint, yes, it will be a custom made magnifold, custom downpipe and will continue with a SS custom exhaust to the back... If it overfuels on your setup, it will probably be about right on mine V.

Not really no. If you must use the chip, then dont use any boost. Take a look at my fuelling and you can see this is all over the place. The mods were at the time T34 turbo, FMIC, K&N cone filter, Tipo inlet cam, 1.2bar boost, 3" exhaust and you can see its really lean on boost till about 5000rpm. Now you have headwork, different cams and probably more efficent turbo, so would reckon your fuelling would be all over the shop!

It's fine if your car is standard, or have a couple of minor mods (exhaust, filter maybe FMIC) but as soon as you start adding cams, headwork, different turbo's etc.. its not always the best as my fuelling graphs shows, hence why you should get the car checked on a RR to see if it will work with your mods, if not, you get a remap specific to your mods

Begbie, you are absolutely right, what I'm asking for is an intermediate solution. It means, no boost, just a chip to bring my car from the garage where all the stuff will be fitted back home (talking 100miles) and a few short runs around to bed in the various bits... Now, you may ask why not get a program at the same time Well, RR and/in Greece is not a combo I'd trust easily So, since I have some time in front of me till the weather cools again (what five months!), I'm trying to find a solution that'd let me do the mapping myself, over a period of time. I'm trying to avoid the extra expensive solution of a Haltech (Motec is race oriented and thus not an option - if I got it right - wont understand/compensate for various commodities like air-con, etc) and looking at what else is available. Had a look at TunerPro from another tread on ECU tuning, but I haven't figured out if that'd work on our EPROM... Any other ideas?

Pectal Boards (as used in the Cosworth's) www.s8ecu.co.uk (no reply to my mail) And something else where you send them your ecu and they will unlock it for you and give you the appriopriate software (cant remember link now)

Thanks a lot Begbie!
if you happen to come across the other guys let me know. What are we talking pricewise for such things? I hope not inx of 500UKP!
Quick Q: when you say unlock your ECU, what exactly do you mean? Isn't it a matter of simply sticking another chip in, and having a programming tool to fool around? Or better still having the chip communicating with your laptop even when the car's running!
[me starts looking for a new ECU to be able to send off and get it prepared to be programmed...]

The pectal boards can vary, but you need to find out what type of ECU you have Passionford Simple definition then decide on what board you need (can do various things, ALS, Water injection, Air injectors) but they can live map the ECU without the additional need for the pectal boards The S8 ecu is about £500 then additional for the wideband lambda sensor, data cable etc... The other company was about 750 euro, they dont unlock it, think they add additonal boards to it? Here is their link

should really start a new thread but it hopefully wont be more than a couple of replies to clear things out: Is it straight forward to swap the whole ECU box with another one? Reason is that I can possibly get a new ECU cheap and then fool around with it, or send it of to be modified whilst my car is running Both my ECU and then one I'll be getting is a 16VT similar year and keycoded. BTW, I've not got an alarm fitted (if it makes any difference, I doubt...) Cheers
