I'm looking for a suitable earth point in the boot.

As you look into the boot there is a metal panel at the top (above which is the rear shelf and high level brake light). On the left hand side of that shelf nearish to where the bootlid arm rests when open there are three threaded holes. I was thinking about running a nut into one of them and earthing off there.

Would that be OK. The power loads are not massive - an inverter running phone and laptop charger etc.

Thanks for any advice from you electrical folks.

If it's the same for every model, then as you look in the boot below the rear left lights there is a big big earth point there. I've got an amp hooked up through that with no problems.

It might be the same but in the plus there is no left hand cubby hole so getting into where you refer to is not straightforward.

Is the bit of the boot that I refer to above OK?

Open the left hand panel that accesses your rear light bulbs. There are earthing points in there, it is a simple case of attaching to one of those and feeding down and under the carpet

OK will have a look, although I don't think it will be what I want to do.

In the meantime can someone tell me whether my proposed earth is going to be OK. If that is in principle a suitable earth then I will leave it at that.

Am not sure why it wouldnt be what you want to do? Maybe you need to explain more?

If you bare the metal around one of the holes that you suggested and ensure that the nut you used and attached cable doesnt foul anything then there is no reason not to use it.

Would just be more simple to use one of the existing earth points already suggested

It's for a cig lighter socket.

The easiest place for me to use is where I have described.

Thanks Kayjay.

That is really difficult to get to on the plus though I think. Can you see it on your car?

Try and remove the boot rubber. You should be able to see it then. I'll check later on mine (when the sun pops through today I'll also go for my photoshoot).
