Just read an interview with them on page 30 of today's Metro and thought of this thread! I was hoping to get to the York gig on Saturday but moving house and looking after my little bro this weekend so going to miss out unfortunately!

Well, strike me down if that wasn't the best Kloot gig I've been to. Made rather more nerve-wracking by having my wife's band-inspired art project installed in the foyer, we were treated to an absolutely awesome display of the power of Kloot. I know I bang on and on about them, but this tour has revealed something really special - it's as though they've grown into the new, bigger sound of the latest album. And also as though it's something they were always waiting for. They are touring with a keyboard player, sax/flute and extra guitarist, though without the strings they've had at the full-monty shows. I worried that this could harm the experience, but I've never, ever seen them better. Credit must also go to the Cambridge Junction's sound (and the engineers who mixed it), but whether it was all six of them, just the 3 core-Klootists or John solo and whether playing new songs from Sky at Night, favourites such as Twist, Favourite Sky or the belting Because or just unheralded (I almost said "unsung"!) great songs from the back catalogue, it was just superb. But don't just take my word for it: review of Buxton gigTo all you who are off to see them on this tour, you really are in for a treat. Although obviously I can accept no liability for concerts failing to meet the above standard... (you just never quite know with Kloot! - Hope you have a great one, Bezzer! Oh, and I wouldn't talk during the quiet bits; I really, really hate this* and John stopped "At the Sea" to have a go at a bunch of tossers near me who talked incessantly through every song, then seamlessly resumed the song, adding emphasis to the line: "Caressed by clouds and bloody fools, who have so much to say" This earned an extra cheer, although according to drummer, Andy, the gig at Halifax Minster a few nights previously resulted in John "essentially threatening to punch a woman in the face. In a church." Mind you it sounds as though that show was a little strained in any case... *Right, here's the rant. To the git stood in front of me and his twatty friends: If you go to a concert, especially one where the music to be played isn't "volume at 11" rock or "scream until you wet your pants" boy band, then why chat to the person next to you, or even vaguely near you, at massive decibel levels? You've (presumably) paid for a ticket, you've taken the trouble to get to the venue and you clearly can't conduct a conversation at normal levels. It would be cheaper and better for everyone concerned if you bought the CD and talked over it at home. That'll do for now, but believe me there's plenty more in the tank.
