I've owned my coupe for about 4 months now and the guy who I bought it from said it had a Helix Organic clutch fitted. It feels more like a paddle clutch as it's very juddery.

Is this normal for a Helix Organic or might he have been mistaken and it's got a paddle?

Maybe it is a Helix and was fitted to a flywheel without it being ground?

It's hard to say without taking it apart unfortunately.

It only judders at low revs might I add. Otherwise it's fine.

I had this problem in an integrale, turned out the damping springs were broken in the driven plate.

Could'nt stop it from juddering on takeup, it did'nt matter wheter you gave it loads of revs or not, or if you let the clutch out quick or slow. It just shook the engine about ! frown

Mine only judders while engaging. If you give it a few revs, it's perfect.

It may be heat spots on the fly wheel. From where screws on an old clutch have got very hot a marked the fly wheel.

I've been told this before, so I think you might be right.

Hey,
That's my old Coupe you have there - I owned it before Sam smile Hope you're enjoying it!

Clutch is a Helix Organic clutch, and the flywheel was re-surrfaced, or skimmed... whatever you call it.
Just FYI it was always like that... juddered a bit unless you dial in 1.5k revs plus before pulling away. Switched to that type of clutch as it was getting through normal clutches every couple of years once it was tunned...
Cheers
Paddy
