Surely the garage owner has insurance to cover cars in the workshop? I would not be happy if that was my coupe... evil

Best thing to happen to murple!

On a serious note that is very bad but at least no one was hurt. What started the fire? Vandals?

What an utter shame, real case of bad luck. I would have thought that the internals of the engine will probably have survived though..

RIP Murple

Hold it for one sec.. is it meant to incinerate like that if it was a light fire?

From the pics, it seems the blaze was intense and went on for some time..Hope there was no fuel in the tank otherwise it would have taken out the garage aswell.

Its a heart wrenching incident!

Just a practical word of caution when working with burnt-out vehicles: always wear gloves and keep your arms covered too, no exposed skin should touch the vehicle. Be very careful around anything rubber, for example, door seals, rubber under the bonnet etc. When automotive rubber burns it exudes some very *nasty* chemicals, very nasty so please be very careful!!

Report any skin rash or irritation immediately to your local A&E and tell them what you were dealing with, it might just save your life!
