but to say that compared to a astra vxr my car is better acceleration wise without mentioning speeds broken if any, road driven, or silly behaviour is hardly resultant to closing a thread But no thread has been closed, so whats the problem?

Is that because your argument will be flawed with a lack of true substance to back it up?
At no point did I mention illegal activity, at the end of the day you could be behind an interesting car on a slip road and could compare safe acceleration onto motorway speeds without being a 'menace'
I respect the rules, but think that people need common sense in making them. A sign of what our country has become, to an extent.

Spending close to 15k on mods, my colleagues simply ask me why not buy a M3, EVO, Skyline or similar.. (yes i know those are RWD).. my point is performace.. a properly modded coop is phenomenal. So lets enjoy it in all its forms and agree to disagree on some points.
We can be proud to say it was fastest FWD in its time.

Yeah, I've read the rules and loads of previous arguments when the coop vs has come up. Hence very careful in that i'd like to keep discussing this on-topic If I wanted to read road comparisons, i'd head over to scooby.net Personally, i'm more interested in in-gear times, I don't drag-race my car, in-gear acceleration times are more real-world. A lot of people who don't know the coupe always ask it's 0-60 time, where there isn't a lot of difference between hot hatches etc ... extend that to 0-100 and it's a lot different (well in terms of a difference in seconds).

Indeed, and I am pleased to see sensible discussion on the subject. As an example: I have a standard coupe, and on a track day at Lower Picklewood, a wide course with fast corners, I led a Novski Turbulator by about a second a lap but was unable to pass if he was in front.
is usually acceptable, though it would be better placed in the track days section. The standard coupe is timed at x.x seconds to 100km/hour but only y.y seconds from 100-150km/h. Compared the the Novski Turbulator, this seems slower to start but faster in gear - why is this?
is a reasonable question. I was alongside my mate in his Novski Turbulator coming onto a slip road and we both booted it. He drew slightly ahead but once we were doing ninety leptons I was a car length in front. When we got onto the motorway I continued...
Is strictly not acceptable. As the forum rules state: Any posts relating to road racing or speeding on the public road will be instantly deleted and no notification will be send to the poster. Continual behaviour of these type of posts will result in restricted posting or a ban. There's often a judgement call to be made, and we don't always get it right; we might allow a post in some threads that we'd remove in others, or vice versa. Sometimes the mods have had a bad day, too, and our temper might not be as forgiving as you'd like.

Where can I get one of these Novski Turbulators? I haven't seen any in Max Power.

I was thinking the fastest fwd car was a budget hire car ... It's mandatory to red-line it everywhere (or at least everytime I get one I do), so you're probably right

<dons flame suit> Isn't arguing over which FWD car is the fastest a bit like arguing over which toothless dog has the nastiest bite? <runs for cover>

I have a 2000 "6" with a Gtec 1, K@N, SMIC @ Chargecooler and mine will hit 175Mph on the clocks.
A 20VT on a stock turbo will never hit those speeds unless the speedo is a very long way out - the turbo just can't flow enough. A 400bhp example will...

430bhp got me to just short of 175mph after 2 miles.
And it was legal!

I honestly dont know how you have the nuts to do that sort of speed, i had 120 in my MR2 on the pit straight at knockhill, at least i think it was about that because i was too scared to take my eyes off the track for a split second!

Well, it was rather damp every time i went there and an AW11 MR2 with 300BHP is rather twitchy to say the least. Oh, and i discovered that the front end gets lighter after 110mph,due to the lack of weight over the front, that wasnt confidence inspiring. Fancy taking the Fiat to Knockhill but it seems a bit delicate

To be honest the car was quite stable at those speeds. It was down a very wide runway, although things can go very wrong very quickly at those speeds.

My standard 20vt plus showed 265km/h (165mph) on the speedo in Germany. Not that surprising is it? That probably is pretty close to a real 250km/h. I've seen 260+ on the speedo loads of times though, I guess living close to Germany helps. I didn't find it nervous or unstable at all, but that will change when your suspension components even have the slightest bit of wear.
Although an E92 M3 felt a lot more stable at an indicated 272km/h (that's when the limiter comes in unfortunately).

So it would appear that I've upset mods by referring to a totally legal drive on a German autobahn in 1998 (long before most coupers on here drove their first coupe).
I would suggest that the 150mph I quoted was some 70mph more legal than forum members driving cars of all makes regularly travel on UK Mways. So be it. Rules is rules we can't select the ones we are prepared to observe, though I did post the same info some 4 years ago when Nigel pointed out that air flowing under the undertray probably caused the lifting sensation.
Removing references to other cars (not FWD so irrelevant to the original post), at 150 on a slab concrete construct AB the front end went light (in fact it appeared to get lighter with every join crossed). On a newly tarmaced AB with passengers on board at a similar speed, the car felt far more stable (original post in response to Eldinho's comments about travelling at 175mph on a runway).
