Is the standard turbo on a 20vt a GT28R?, also has any one tried fitting a turbo refurb kit?, is it worth the money to refurb the old turbo or just buy a new one?

Hi. It's a T28.

It can be very worthwhile to refurb your own. It's absolutely vital to get the compressor wheel and turbine balanced. Also, if the turbine shaft shows signs of wear then get it machined and the right over-size journal bearings for it.

It takes a bit of time and effort but can save you a lot of money.

If you can afford just get a brand new one. No worries and hassle....with good regular oil changes it will last you for over 100K miles
