hi. is the gtec1 or 2 chip better for a standard 20vt. it only has a k&n cone fitted.
i know the best choice is a custom map but budget rules that out for now.

gtech 1 is the one to go for, pm grahaml on here as he programmes them and sells them

as above , the gtech 1 chip is best suited to the mods on your car and is just a plug and play chip very easy to install yourself , it will raise the boost to 1.2bar and get rid of the rev limit in first and second 0.6 or 0.8 bar . its the cheapest way to make the coupe faster and fell better to drive but you will need to get your fuelling checked on a rolling road so your not over fuelling and i would also fit a boost gauge to check for boost spikes , here's a link to the how 2's , look under tuning - http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=351785#Post351785

hi nismo. had a 16vt before and fitted the evo chip and boost gauge. the chip made such a difference to the 16vt. i will get the 20vt on the rr as soon as i can but will fit chip and gauge for now. do the plugs need changed like the 16vt?

Hi. I'm gona buy it from graham. He has sent me all the details. I seen one in there but it looks like its spoken for. Just gota get the car running now as the Clifford has packed in and car won't start so gota remove it and reconnect the original wiring. Who's the best person on here for technical help.

Even though I'm sure he's already mentioned this, make sure you get it RR'd to check the fueling.

its like shell optimax has a higher ron 98 than normal fuel 95 ron , its a higher octain fuel 98 ron .

so as long as i have a fmic and a uprated fuel pump a gtec 2 should be fine with a remap cool

If you are getting a remap, there is no need for the GTEC2 or 1. Your standard chip will be replaced with a bespoke re-written one.

Do the FMIC and then remap, if you get the remap done by (flea) then ask him to do the wiring mod on your standard fuel pump (if you really want to play around with the fuel pump).

Mapping with flea is the best. But if your on budget Gtec 1 is very safe and good. Just do the Fuel pump wiring mod (15 min job) and service your car well before adding the chip..then enjoy zoommmmmmm

What wiring mod , sorry guys new to all this

Have a look in the how to section. The wiring mod is basically a direct feed to the fuel pump from the battery. Due to the original wiring loom the pump can get a lower voltage than it requires, this mod solves that problem.

A user named Jap used to sell the kit on here & on ebay. Send him a PM. The kit is about £15.

I don't think you need a wiring mod just for a Gtec1. I have used both Gtec1 & 2 without the wiring mod. Maybe if you go for a custom map you need it.

Best thing to do it to test the voltage of the pump, that will tell you whether you need the mod or not. It's best to test it while driving so ideally someone need to sit in the back with the ski hatch open and a voltmeter to hand.
