Was thinking about this..ive ordered some leads up to link up to my netbook.

Wondered as the software was programmed on a linux based system could the diagnostic program be ported over to android and use and android tablet to output readings with use of usb ports. Could even be fixed in the car permanently...

Just thoughts but on first glance why not...

The software was written under Windows. Linux emulates the windows API with a system called Wine; for console based applications it's very good - easier than the native interface in some ways since you can control port mapping very simply.

The three main issues in this program are

1) the communications protocol and timing
2) the translation of running data
3) the analysis of the error data

With the hard work on that done, displaying it is merely selecting a user interface of your choice... no reason I know of why it couldn't run on Android, but I'm not an Android developer, don't have an Android phone.

The software is open source and pretty well documented - off you go then!

just nail the netbook to the dashboard - you don't get much more permanent than that smile

Would love to run this off my Android phone. I know two Android developers, I'll have a word.

Where can I get the open source code from please Neil?
