priceless in reality i believe the one currently for sale is being offered quite cheaply - a Plus in top condition should fetch £5k all day for me, although i am biased

I think a good example of plus is worth 5k easy, the prices of coupes is ridiculously low at the moment.

2.5k in parts at the very very most. less your time spent taking it apart. True. Because you'll get bored of trying to shift most of the parts. 1/2 the parts will fly away in days, and the rest will be under your dining room table and filling your shed for months :-) And 5k for a plus is a bit steep right now. Myself and a friend deal a bit here and there in cars. Mostly buying at auction, tarting up a little and moving them on... been making a tidy profit. I would shy well away from a plus at £5K even if it is a minter. I paid most of £3k for my moonie recently (W-plate 20vt 6 speed) engine replaced with a 25k lump... what exactly do I get from a plus thats £2k worth?

If its the car from motormech you got a good deal. 3k is about right for a plus, anything over that is down to buyer need/desperation Demand just isn't there at the moment for a 10+ year old car from fiat that may or may cost you £400 every 3 months to keep running. There are cars that for not much more money (I am thinking of M3's, M5's Z4's). You can buy a TVR Chimera for 8k. a 350z for 7-8k. all cars that are going to better alternative for the mass market buyer who wants a sports car. Those cars remove demand from the coupe hence the rock bottom price. An elise or vx220 can be had for 8k-9k. a Focus ST for 7-8k. A GTV 3 litre for 4k (2003). Then there are all the mini's that are hitting the market, you can get a cooper s for less than 6k. Just take a look through autotrader and pistonheads. I think 1000-1500 for a late 20v, 2k for a 20vt, 3k for an LE and 3.5k are realistic prices.

Yes, its the Motormech Moonie. Had some teething issues (New turbo, new thermostat, rebuild bottom of engine, and now a lambda sensor and injector)... but at under £3k I think its good value. I still maintain that £3k is the top I'd pay for an unmolested coupe in mint condition... hence why I almost paid £3k. I'd include plus and LE in there too. For me, I'd rather have the 20vt6 than the LE (Not a fan of the garish red badges and michael jackson leather), and the plus dosen't really add much for me. Modified cars are difficult to price, as while someone can spend an absolute fortune on tuning/styling it is not often going to add much to the price you can sell for. And unless the mods are done well you'l be lucky to sell at all. And to me, modded coupe just screams 'THRASHED'... why mod it if you aren't going to track day it or rag it. As for people who think they are possible classics and will appreciate.... possibly but not yet. When there are 30-40 on sale on autotrader, more on pistonheads, more on ebay and some on here at any one time they probably aren't quite rare enough yet. I still love coupes... I have since I first got one, but I'm not kidding myself that everyone does.

Most of the parts wont sell. Engine £600-£800 (highest prices these days) Gearbox 6 speed £400-£500 Plus Interior £600 (no it really isnt worth 1k anymore) Wheels £300 Red calipers £300 Whats left? parts that are hard to shift. Doors dont sell, bonnets are slow to leave the shelf, and the other odds and sods add up to a small amount. For the aggro involved, your better off selling as a car, IMO.

Agree with Rog. It's where I got my 20VT + 2K from
Gearbox - 400, Interior - 500, clocks - 100, Gearbox - 500, Wheels - 300, Calipers - 250, Side Skirts (maybe) 80, Strutbrace 80 (then knock off the value of the equivalent parts on a 20VT)
The rest for the normal price of 20VT parts.
Not really worth breaking a plus. I still think that 4 - 4.5k is very reasonable for a decent one, although I know others would disagree.

Plus Interior £600 (no it really isnt worth 1k anymore) to qualify my first post, i added that before this thread became about breaking the car! @ the above quote, bit surprised that the full interior is only worth £600 when it seems the steering wheel alone can fetch £275! surely the seats in good condition are worth c£500?

Breaking Coupes even Plus models doesn't pay, Once the goodies are gone you're left with over 50% of the car and that takes an age to shift, from what I've read most parts that are left just get skipped and that's a real shame as more and more parts are becoming obsolete each day. Plus interiors will sell for up to £1k but they have to be mint like my set that I sold to Genic, and lets not forget if someone wants it bad enough they'll pay near the asking price. Personally I hope you sell the car as a whole Cj, even if you do think the red ones are cursed bonnets are slow to leave the shelf! How big are your shelves Roger

Steering wheels dont sell for £275. I am selling a newly retrimmed wheel for that price. It would cost £180 minimum to get your existing wheel retrimmed to this standard. Plus interiors take forever to sell, £600 is the realistic price of you dont fancy it sitting on the shelf (same shelf the bonnets are on). Coupe parts now are hard to shift, most people want them for nothing.

Lets see a pic steve. Had planned on doing this and even bought a wheel but then never went through with it. Would like to see his attempt at a plus wheel.
