Has any one got any photo's or/and info on putting the battery in the boot please.
I am presuming it will go in the spare wheel well.
I am just about to cut the wheel holder out.

Keep the wheel holder, if you get the right sized battery that will help secure the battery in place

Do it, it's one of the best handling mods I've done.
(A Sparco strutbrace you can hardly sense, but this..!)

I have 2 small gel-batterys (18Ah each) which do the job well. You better use sealed battery(s) as they don't leak gas or acid (which will drop under car and eventually ruin your rear end paintwork - been there, bought the t-shirt..)

I did cut the holder off and bolted 2 small new mounts to the floor. Nowadays the twin gels sit tranversely so I could've used the spareholder.

Totally agree with you, it's one of the first things i do after buying a car.....
Very nice if you doing all of your underbonnet work - lot of space...

Did you guys need to drill holes to get those thick power cables into the engine bay?

..but I'm sure there are other ways too.

You only need to route 1 cable though.

I ran the cable tucked down by the passenger side sill then up through a grommet up behind glovebox and through the scuttle panel into the engine bay.

@ Per .Great photo's there mate. I cant make out where you put the earth in the boot though. Is it attached to an existing earth point?

Earth point I use is the the one below the nearside rear clusters, can't miss it.

Its better to use some kind of automatic circuit braker like the mentioned here , so you´ll have a fuse and a switch the same time. Even one like the used in house el.system could do the job.

Do any of you vent these batteries to the atmosphere? I know on my GTV there is vent specifically for this out the side of the battery (It's in the boot)I gather it's to prevent the build up of hydrogen...

If you can get your hands on some long cables from a good quality welding machine... those cables absolutely rock.

As I wrote earlier the safest bet is - go gel. Sealed batterys don't drop acid behind your Coupe as you go, and more importantly - does not ruin your rear end paint.

I got some thousands of small holes all over my boot paint some years ago when I had a std battery (with ventilation thru the boot floor), after a trackday. No fun!
