Yes NangKang tyres are an awful tyre (IMO) and most cetainly not suited to a coupe. These tyres are aften fitted to those "special offer" wheel and tyre deals in places like Halfrauds. They use them because they are cheap (and nasty) You may also have other handling and suspension issues with your car generally. Coupes do require on-going maintenance and renewal of suspension components, more so than normal vehicles. Having this tyre and worn suspension combo may be some of what you are experiencing. IMO I would bin the tyres and buy Toyo T1rs. EDIT - OR what ^ HE ^ said.

Try changing the psi to what the car is meant to have, 37psi at the front and 32psi at the back
Your car is Usain Bolt with wellies

yep - 40 psi is qoing to reduce grip at the back end.
NS2's are poor in the wet, but there is nothing wrong with them in the dry at all!

I ran 18s on my VIS, keep to recommended tyre pressures, is my advice.
I did have these on my Focus, nice tyre in the dry and they last for ages. but grip in the wet was like slicks!

I run 40 on the fronts and 35 on the rears on 215/35/18; any less and it feels like I have flat tyres. 35 profile? You *have* flat tyres...

I've been running Nankang NS2's for the last 2+ years with no problems. At less than £50 a corner for 17's they ARE a bargain (and a good one at that). All IMO of course.

I had nankangs on my golf supercharged vr6 mk2 for 2 weeks it felt like I had back to black not only on the sidewall but on the tread aswell. It was obvious difference from premium tyres on that car which had serious weight balance issue's so needed good grip I was silly to buy them really Took them off kept them as emergency spares but sold the car in the end as it wanted to murder me.

[update], altered tyre pressures 37 psi front 32 psi rear didnt make any difference, forgot to mention when the tyres were fitted the guy put quite alot of tyre seal on rims of the alloys. could this make the tyres slip and move about on the rims he used the tyre seal because the wheels were second hand wanted to make sure there were no air leaks thanks. phil

[update] when the tyres were fitted the guy put quite alot of tyre seal on rims of the alloys. could this make the tyres slip and move about on the rims phil No - even if he'd used grease, you wouldn't get a tyre to rotate on the rim once its beaded I think you probably mean the tyre soap that tyre fitters use to help the tyre bead onto the rim - I've never heard of a sealant to "keep the air in on secondhand wheels" Another guess is that you're suffering from "block hysteresis", where the tread blocks move around under the weight and load of the car, so the blocks are going from \_\ shape, through |_| and on to /_/ as the tyres are laterally loaded. As the tread wears down, the hysteresis gets less and less noticeable, to the point where the tyre feels pretty good, just before it needs to be replaced Last year, I bought a set of four Toyo Proxies PX4 - the write-up was good - Toyo's own website described them as "the new UHP tyre" (Ultra High Performance) - they were awful - I could make the car turn left, simply by using the accelerator and cornering was best described as a constant, repeating sequence of steering and corrections If the tyres were recommended to you by the dealer (as opposed to you asking for them by name), I would be tempted to go back to the dealer and reject them as being unfit for purpose

looks like i will be getting a better quality tyre, an suggestions anyone. Apart from the slight hiccup with the PX4s, I've always had Toyo T1-R and been very satisfied with them - I get 12,000 from a pair of fronts and around 20,000 from the rears

i had fullrun tyres on my 18's when i bought them. i thought the terrible handling was due to suspension set up but since i put falken fk452's all round it handles superbly even in the wet. i didnt realize what a difference tyres would make! It WILL be the tyres - nankang are a summer tyre and will not perform as good in the cold.

Step one - Alignment check and post up the tracking sheet.
Step two - drop links, wishbones, rear arms, top mounts, leaky dampers, shot springs etc.....check.
Step three - change the tyres.
Doing one and two is a good idea if parts are old anyway, and I seriously doubt from the description on this thread, and my experience with NS2's in the dry on the road that the tyres are the issue.

A bit of OT. Don't You rotate the wheels back-front every 6months/5,000mi, to level the tyre wear back/front?

I had Nangkang tyres on a few of my motors, as above grip in the dry was good but wet was a bit sketchy, one thing watch out for is the insides of them falling to pieces, when they get close the the 3mm markers check the inside, i found on all of mine that the tyre had bits missing just on the inside near the sidewall, just like thin strips gone apart from that a good tyre for grip and wear and at the price they go for cant complain

Nagkangs are AWFUL did a wheel swap my 18s for some LE wheels + cash and the LE wheels I put on were fitted with the dreaded Nangkangs! Its 3 days since I have been driving on the nagkangs and there being taken off the car as I write this.
The nagkangs should be banned from the uk they are terrible dry and in the wet if you don't tip toe on roundabouts you will slide.
Awful awful awful tyres! Never ever buy them ever.
Infact I'm going to drive round to all my friends and familys houses and check there cars are not sitting on Nagkangs.
