Heres some pics of my coupe last summer before i toke it off the road this year to fix
click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge
and heres some of my work in progress . i have decided to keep the car and get rid of as much rust as i can ,i started on the rear arch and cut out as much rust as i could then made plates to fit and welded them up , i had to use flux cored weld which i didnt get on with very well .Its messy and you cant see the weld pool , altho it does the job of sticking metal together fine , i cleaned up the weld painted it with bonda then smeared a very thin coat of filler into any holes and covered it up with more bonda

Next i moved onto the bit under the rear seats , it was fairly rusty but no holes it would be a nightmere to weld from the underside and becuase it hadnt rusted though i decided to weld the seams together from the top i did a couple of seems to make sure it was strong next ive got to carry the weld on abit further and grind the underside somehow , thinking dremal and a mask smile

Only any use on surface stuff. The coupé rusts fast and the metal thins off. For strength and safety cut out and replace.

Really good work Ian

well unfortunatly im throwing in the towel , after digging around some more , its just not worth fixing mybe if it was an le or plus , but not for a standered coupe frown , i think id pretty much have to replace the whole floor and and dont really want to spend god knows how long welding ,i dont want to but somtimes you have got to see sense , so the hunt is now on for a new shell , but in the mean time i can have fun restoring all the parts i can reuse smile

Sorry to hear that Ian frown

The more I look under the rear of mine the more worried i get. Taking her to the local garage in the morning to see what welding is required readit Everything else done ready for the MOT.

mybe where abouts are you , have you checked all of the car underneith because mine dint look to bad until i started poking around .the coupes metal is really thin and the underseal seems to love hiding massive bits of rust

I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.
I even unplugged my own.
