Just stripped all my rear brake components down & cleaned up ready for new discs n pads to go on. Just noticed that there are two different calipers & brackets on! - never noticed before crazy blush

How can this be - did later coupes have different rears on? If so which is the newer one lol

There are two types of rear calliper, the earlier steel callipers and the later alloy ones.

Hi Jamie

I never noticed it myself.

I have a spare passenger side lucas alloy caliper and carrier.

You can have it if you want. It will need the piston re-inserting, a new bleed nipple and a good clean or re-paint.

Let me know.

Easy to check what calliper you have with a magnet.

Calipers are interchangeable (early h/b activators are known to seize).
Ditto pad mntg bkts, however later versions (upright bar) feature a twin-step pad pattern.
Earlier mntg bkts were single step (steel calipers typically) and will only tolerate single-step pattern pads.
ADVICE - always fit twin-step pattern pads (they fit both)

I've got on of each coz one was shagged.

Yea thanks done that - the calipers are the same look like they are both the early ones - no finnes. its just the carriers that are different - one is the later type with a vertical bar & the other hasn't got a vertical bar & no twin-step - but the calipers seem fit ok?.

Yes my new pads are the twin-step style ones
