Its time to replace my tyres and I'm wondering about replacing with Toyo R1Rs. Probably a little wacky but I have winter tyres on another set of rims so I don't have any cold weather issues with them.

Concerned though about how long they will last and how they'll handle driving through standing water. Googling gives little information thats useful, especially as the tyres were released and then withdrawn 2 years ago and I believe returned with a different compound.

Anyone any experience with these? Maybe this is plain nuts for a daily driver and the Continental Sport Contact 2's are the way to go. Just curious what people think.

They were never released in the UK as far as i know. They were withdrawn because the compound was so soft that it cracked severely below about 6 degrees in temperature.

This is obviously not a major problem in many parts of the world but in the UK it was a severe problem.

From what I've read they came back with a version that survived to -10C but were still rubbish to drive on.

Camskill and some others have them in stock now so I believe the newer version is here now unless these are cobweb covered stock.
