Why is it i can't bring myself to buy a different make of speakers for the front of my coupe than i've bought for the back. I'm going for quality so i decided to go for Genesis gear, i've got the sub and rears but can't find the mids + tweets i want. There is plenty of equally good quality component sets out there for the same money, even the same make but slightly cheaper but i must have a set of Audiophile components and nothing else will do. I don't even think it's vanity as the only speaker on show will be the sub everything else will be hidden behind the original grills! Does anyone else suffer from this insane compulsion to match everything?

I spent £450 on my front speakers (JL Audio components).

would I do it again? .. no.

I don't think you'll ever get 'audiophile' quality in a car, and what's the point in a fiat coupe? it's noisy and the interior squeaks and rattles (some worse than others).

The sound is good quality but I don't think there would be much noticeable difference if I had spent the same on the front speakers as I had done on the rears (which were about £150).

I agree with your OCD though. i'd go for the same make for the interior speakers (maybe not with a sub but I think that's different).

I suffer a little from brand ocd as well, like you i went for a all genesis setup and i am happy, but like duncan says you cant get audiophile quality in a car.
when driving the coupe's road noise is massive which leads you to only be a "phile" when your stationary which is a bit poser-ish!

I went for the lower spec profile 16s which are good enough for me but they are probably just as hard to find now.

your more than welcome to listen to mine a brooklands!

Now there's an idea as to where to hide an amp! idea

Any ideas on the size of amp that will fit in there?

I too understand the OCD about same marque stuff but keep the faith with Genesis comps - a set will appear.

I'm going a slightly different route with some recent bargains - Rainbow Dreamline comps (£35) and a matching Rainbow Sub and box (£25). I've got a rather large PG amp to power everything but looking for something with a smaller footprint (hence the question about the side panel).

I asked Huets Car Audio to see if they could install my amp under the passenger seat but it would have stuck out a bit and got in the way of the feet of passengers in the back.

Putting the Amp behind the rear light cluster was the next best place.

I don't have a sub as I didn't want to lose any boot space but for a "fuller" sound, I think it's needed frown

I am confused i thought you sold one because it did not fit? or was the last one an ultra? wobble

That is impressive. I'm sure AudioGuy prototyped one for the coupe though confused

and I think Nigel has a flat style sub from Pioneer ?

Before going way off topic, I wouldn't be bothered about the brand of the sub but I do keep the mid/high range speakers all from the same manufacturer.

That was a P4. The P2 is smaller and I'll be using a hidden tri way crossover for the sub. Like you I've got all the bits, just need to do a boot build as above and hopefully sorted.

I remember that but I don't think it was a FG build at the back?

I'll hopefully be giving this a go in the next few weeks so I'll report back then.

Back on topic; so long as the tweets fit in the custom holders I've got, mine'll be an all Rainbow speaker install for the same OCD reasons. smile

you're right, it was constructed out of MDF and was removable. For some reason, I can't find him on the userlist here confused

Sounds a cool project and the how-to makes it look pretty straight-forward.

Just for reference, the size of my amp is 235 x 192 x 52 mm and is a pretty tight fit.

Don't know how that compares to the genesis amps
