I'd buy a late model normal 20VT and spend the change on a respray inc. LE kit, refurbed standard wheels and plus front seats, maybe even a strut brace too... ...I don't like the LE two-tone paint or interior and I don't really need a 6 speed box... ...oh wait, that's pretty much what I did do which is probably more than the cost of buying a Plus model to start with. Very possibily, but it's now in far better condition than a unrestored ten year old car would be.

I'd much rather a showroom fresh 20vt looking how I want it to than a slightly tired Plus or LE.

I was referring to a resprayed Plus model not a tired 10 year old unrestored one.
Which is do-able.

With the hysteria around the plus and le, its doubtful you'd get any change from £5k for a recently resprayed plus. However, buying a late model 20vt with all mechanicals done and respraying is definitely doable for less than £5k.

including buying LE style skirts, plus interior, strut brace, refurbing of wheels?
with all that in a mechanically sorted 20vt, it's more than 5k.
of course it depends on the quality of the respray. Mine had a 3k (cash payment) windows out job and all dings removed. You can get one for half of that but it will look crap.
I think anyone who has seen my car will be testamount to that.

You may just not be aware that certain areas of the country are cheaper than others. And you don't need to pay full price for any of the changes you mention above. If you bought a mechanically sound coupe for £2k with gubbed wheels and faded paint, you could EASILY do it. Ross

Ok, I assumed 3k for a mechanically good 20vt6 (assuming all major jobs recently done)
+ full respray + LE skirts + strut brace + refurbed alloys + plus seats (Airbag 'Recaros' not the standard Recaros)
I'm only going on what Ally quoted for the all the work above which is easily 5k in total. Given I bought my Plus for 5k in that condition (engine on 43k, full respray by the previous owner as in my post above so not a tired example, my statement still holds)

Whereas I'm Mr Ordinary and would reject both - not for the interior or the gears, but for the push-button starter. Something which went out in the fifties and should have stayed out, in my humble opinion... I really really don't like 'em. I guess I'll be your polar opposite then Neil . I just took the parts I liked from all the 20VT Coupé range (6 speed gearbox/Plus starter button/Plus rear pillar light/LE interior/Sprint Blue paint) and put them together for my Technicolour dream (or nightmare to some lol) Coop . I'd go for the Plus anyday because:
1) They are newer (mine was one of the very last Coupes to roll off the line).
2) They have nicer wheels (personal opinion).
3) They are not as garish (personal opinion).
4) Later models have airbags in the seats (God only knows if they work though!).
The only thing I desire from the LE is the plaque (which, as a Coupe enthusiast, is pretty special I guess). But I will happily forgo it for all the above reasons.
And my Plus has the airbag seats, and they look great, but they are not the most comfortable seats in the world. The cushioning and support is in all the wrong places I find! It doesn't give me a bad back, but I've sat in many other seats that are a ton more ergonomic.

5k is probably not a bad guess actually, but at least that's money spent over the course of a couple of years rather than in one go. I think your plus was a good buy at that money!

Given the LE's...how would you PLUS owners put it?
IN YOUR FACE STYLING!
It amazes me how quiet and content LE owners appear to be in comparison, if this thread is anything to go by.
Suggesting to me that, loud Car = understated driver and understated car = loud driver.
So...which are you?
:-) Clearly you didn't read the thread properly then, Dufus I thought the difference was that for the LE, FIAT set a limit (and raised that because of their popularity), whereas the Plus is seen as being limited as no sod bought one Don't forget the LE has the red seatbelts that will make people think 'pwoaarr... Fast car!' when they see it The plus is limited because the spare parts bin ran out....
LOUD ENOUGH?!

Agreed Shootsoon they all end up wanting the LE, I've had mine for a few years now and it's still as valuable as the day I brought it...how many Plus owners can say that?

How many LEs were actually imported?
How many Pluses? How many 20VT6? for that matter. 1,856 "limited Editions" 751 Plus 1,387 6's Making the 6 more of a limited edition than the (Ahem) LE - but just slightly behind the Plus...

That was my point what about UK numbers? Sorry I think at best its a question about additional "styling" of the LE. Personally I thought the LE it added nothing of value but YMMV.
