Anywhere that has roads
Hey all,

after 2 years in my parents garage on SORN, 1 catastrophic electrical failure brought on by the alarm being on for months at a time and the coolant hose of death - none of which seen by me - the Coop is going back on the road. smile

I haven't gone back to my parents to pick it up yet - waiting for the weather to turn properly (looks like that could be today at 22 degrees here!), but it passed it's MOT first time yet again. In true coop soul style, I think this means it wants to be driven.

Not expecting too much. Don't need antyhing beyond a 3" downpipe which I can't afford, so not really thinking about it, and I've been used to driving a mk3 MR2 on Toyo Proxies (VERY) hard round corners so I'm not expecting the Coop to be a cornering joy as it comparatively leans and understeers like a lorry.

However, I am looking forward to the smell of that special leather interior again, followed by the noise, asthetics, turning heads and ... more noise.

Just not looking forward to merely playing with the hottest hatches instead of 911's and AM's as everything has gotten faster it my absence. Only one way to find out what it compares to now though... wink

Silently.

Please be aware that 'vs' posts or any description of road-racing (including fabricated 'private roads') will not be tolerated; are liable to be deleted without notice or explanation; and may result in the banning of persistent offenders.

Should you wish to report on race track events, there's a section for that.

The largest known object in the universe is the star known as 'VY Canis Majoris.'

It would take a passenger plane travelling along its surface at 900kph about 1100 years to circle it one time.

Welformed's Coupe could do it in 2 weeks.

Legend!

Plausible deniability: I was only joking officer. tongue It will be an only reference. So have you lot been hammered by plod in my absence?

You know for all the bad driving I've caught on camera (16GB worth of footage and YouTube channel videos in progress, oh yes) a disproportionate amount has been from the police. Speeding, lane hogging, not indicating, swerving and otherwise appearing to be pist. Let me know if you want some... equalisation.

Anyway, yeah cool, should be fun to get back in the Coop. I hope I can get the cash together for a downpipe but atm all spare monies are going toward my Personal Training courses. I'll be swapping the V's thread for the weight loss thread, but not so much on the personal stories front. wink

How utterly boring.....yawn. A performance car forum where you can't mention what maybe 70% of people do and know full well they do. Does let down this forum considerably, probably why a lot of other forums consider us owners a soft touch, take the MLR they talk about vs but there are rules that you have to strictly adhere to, and it works perfectly.

It's a bad decision and winds me up everytime it comes up!

We all drive 220-500 bhp cars and we all never put our foot down on the road, how disillusioned.

Yes thats really clever to brag on an online forum about how you have broken the law and incriminating yourself ... other forums can think what they like

There are tracks and drag strips for that sort of thing. Yes im sure most people have had a heavy foot once in a blue moon but this isnt the place to brag about it

If you have an ounce of intelligence you would neither incriminate yourself or Bragg.

As much as you softies keep saying this, you are in the minority, I think the majority of users would quite enjoy reading well written interesting comparisons between other cars that do not encourage road racing or illegal activity.

"dictators" springs to mind. I'm off for a read on pistonheads where there is less "PC" going on. Your argument is laughable, no, actually it's ridiculous, I thought I was on a performance car forum.

See unfortunately thats where you are wrong, the area was zapped because 9/10 threads contained posts about illegal racing. Anyway this conversation is pretty pointless and more importantly off topic.

Have fun on Pistonheads thumb

The point is you are spoiling the forum, it would not take a nuclear scientist to come up with some well thoughtout guidelines in the appropriate section.

Say what you like, it's a let down on this forum not just for me but for many other users.

Rant over. But still disappointed.

It would be amazing.A place where we could all go to moan about not being able to race each other as we cant afford the petrol anymore. laugh

You are right Davie but did you ever read the Coupe Vs section on here? It turned into a road racing subsection (which i understand to be the complete opposite to what it was there for!) where people believed the use of the word "leptons" was an excuse to come on here and willy wave that they had just overtaken 911 Turbo at 155 mph. Some of the posts were cringeworthy.

As for Pistonheads, if some of the posts that were in the Coupe vs section on here made it over there, I imagine they wouldn't last long before they were deleted and the poster banned

Good post Benje.
Davie, I enjoyed reading posts in that area, some were of great value and interest. There were rules in place and daily they were broken. Writing rules down will not stop people posting those sort of road racing related posts. The forum cant be that bad if you are still on here even after that area was removed. Yes this forum isnt like most other perfomance car forums however this forum has something that most of the forums out there dont have and its a tight community spirit.

Can we please keep this thread on topic now as this is not what it was intended for.

We are indeed a minority. A minority that will be held partially responsible as 'dictators' because we'd be the ones allowing... No, wait... Encouraging speeding or even racing (with maybe fatal results not necessarily in the car) on public roads. We don't want to go there.

In the same way, we do not want to get involved in group buys acting as middlemen, or any transactions between members or visitors. In an ideal world where abuse would not exist and moderators were being paid and thus didn't need to spend time on jobs/clients, we'd happily do it though.

... but we've experienced numerous times that this is not an ideal world and that other forums have had to be closed down due to legal actions against them for far less than what is mentioned above. As moderators, it's our job to protect the friendly members - and more specifically member-owners - and to assure this forum will continue to exist.
