Whoops, didn't notice my 20vt MOT ran out beginning of March. So 2000 miles in the last month, including travelling to and from 2 track days, last weekends dash to London, Manchester and back to Bristol, lucky...

So, I'm really going to test a local MOT station now, I've seen his handiwork close hand, and I'm honestly expecting him to give me a new ticket, even though I haven't put the CAT back on, and it's pissing power steering fluid everywhere.

This is the ultimate test of a garage with a somewhat lax reputation laugh

Will post back later!

I did the same a couple of years ago - completely forgot

Its amazing that the 'authorities' can remember to send you a car tax reminder, but not an MOT reminder - I wonder if its anything to do with how much money the State will receive from it.....

You old sceptic yes

I should learn, I once drove my Jag for 6 months without one, travelling to and from Bristol to London 2-3 times a week shocked

Let's see if a decat 20vt is 'road legal' today wink

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but using my psychic powers I predict an issue with handbrake efficiency. coat

I think the emissions and leaking power steering ought be far worse!

In fact, the handbrake on my 20vt is the best I've ever had in any of my coops, it stops on only a few notches!

Probably true, however the savvy garage owner keeps a record and rings customers up to remind them now. I got a call recently from the garage who service our 1007, he said your MOT is due and you need to book, ah you've booked it in already!

My Outlook calendar reminded me a few weeks ago that your 20VT needed a new MOT blush laugh

Just had mine done yesterday. The ol' rear brakes came up. The compensator had seized again! 15 mins work with a 2" pry bar and a shed load of grease and I've got working rear brakes again.

Good luck Dan!

Well, the CO2 machine is working, but he didn't spot leaking power steering fluid, despite a nice pool it deposited on his floor.

Oh, and handbrake efficiency came up.

Other than that all fine, retest tomorrow once CAT fitted should see her through for another year.

For the edification of all: a new MOT certificate comes with a cut-out-and-keep sticky label which will go in a corner of the windscreen and remind you of the renewal date.

The afore mentioned label fits perfectly on the inside of the drivers sun-visor wink this way you will get a in-yer-face reminder every time the sun comes out whilst driving

Great advice cool

My MOT cert's always seem to vanish a week after after being put in the 'important stuff' drawer!

Also, these links might be handy...

Check Your MOT expiry date here: MOT Expiry Date

Even better, check the cars previous MOT's - Show's reasons for failures, milage... even advisories: MOT History
*WARNING* Potential for jaw dropping on floor and going into 'drown sorrows mode' after using this!
