Anyone have any experience of these? There pretty hefty cost wise but what are the other options, and are they a massive improvement over the standard setup with pagid blues? Thanks

The kit comes with all you need, i have 17" rsw thunders already so it would JUST fit. I meant am i looking at substantial improvements in stopping power and pedal feel+stability, in all honesty the brakes are probably the worst part of the coupe, i have owned/driven cars with serious brakes so its a real let down that the standard setup dissapoints me every time i drive the car. I also wanted to know because slamming the biggest brake kit on your car does not always make it stop like a super car, some cars are inherently crap at braking no matter what you do

The standard brakes (well the drilled discs) are actually ok - once you get used to the fact that you have to stand on them sometimes..
Well put it this way I am happy with them, and I could brake as well as the Ferrari 550 I was playing with after he slammed his on!
But in all honesty I would say that getting some drilled disks, green stuff pads and braided brake hoses... you would feel nice difference and it wouldnt cost you a mint!

If it gives me confidence in the brakes then cost is no object, but i would not want to spend alot of money on something which would be pointless.

The only comment I would say is that if after these brakes your still not confident that you can stop in time - then your driving WAY TOO FAST for any road conditions in the UK ...also I dont want to stop any better than I do now because whoever is behind is going to eat my boot..

Just a quick reminder that the braided hoses are not recommended for the 20vt as they were reported to split without any warning . Have you replaced your brake fluid recently. I felt that the std breaks were a little crap for the size of disc until I had my fluid change at the last service and it made a noticeable difference .

Who said they are not recomended?? I have been using them for 4 or 5 years and certainly over the last 3.5 years of forum membership I have never seen a post that indicates they are a problem!?
But yeah - brake fluid changes do make a difference - but although it might give you a more confident pedal feel and slow speed braking - it wont stop the dreadfull fade that a standard 20VT suffers with

Those on the Ferrari 550 are nothing special, the car is blighted by its weight. I drove the 550, the 355 and my 348 round Goodwood a few years ago all on the same day. Managed 145mph down the stright in the 550 as against "only" 140 in the other two, but had to brake far earlier to get slowed down for the corner at the end of the straight. They were spongy compared to the 348/355 and you could really feel them struggle against the weight
To be fair, most modern cars have adequate brakes for road use - but at the same time, adequate is there to be improved upon

I Would nsay the best option are some 3G discs, either the 10grv and dimples or 20grv as the std le drilled discs are utter cack for abuse and by abuse im sure im upto hanny and nigel standards now as i experienced a bit of fade today when 45mins late for work coming over the hills and overtaking anything slowing me below 100leptons........
