The thursday morning gift:
The love of my soul and eyes is badly smashed...some perturbed idiot with a 4x4 left me this gift for the coming holidays. Now don´t know what to do with the rest...seems bad enough for repair. Anybody got similar experience, or at least knowledge if this is repairable 100% (with that Fiat´s soft body frown )? Are there OE body panels available at dealers? And etc...related?

cry

Sorry to see that. Were you in the car at the time, no damage to yourself I hope?

I'll be bloody impressed if that can be sorted.

It's mendable, but it's going to cost: new bumper, wing, boot cover, cross member, boot floor... I hope the culprit has good insurance.

I trust you're OK, or you'd have said something?

Awful sight sorry to see. That will be written off for sure if you go through your insurance company - best bet if your budget stretches is your engine & drivetrain good? If so buy a cheap knackered coupe with good body & transplant all the innards over - I think quite a few have done this on here

Sorry to see what's happened. Hopefully you're okay and the culprit has admitted fault.

It's hard to say from the pics, but my gut reaction is that it is way beyond economical repair. The quarters are damaged so badly it looks to me as if you are carrying damage into the C and B pillars. Coupled with the rear panel and floor, even if you got it repaired it would never be the same again.

I'd recommend taking your engine if it's good and any other good items you can and swapping them into a good shell.

Thank you all,
I´m OK, was on work trip for 2 days, and can asure the impotence one feels when stuck 500km from home with telephone news coming like this, is enormous. The combat tank driver admits all, but as post-action he got his hands clean, now the insurance comp. is trying to do the same, because on call yesterday they were explaining me how if the repair is too costy then it could pass as total damage and get paid only the ammount they decide as "market value", which is low enough...and doesn´t represent the real (market) value at all. Have to search for lawyer to get everything clear, what are the chances and etc.
If for swap, is every model body usable, or only the turbo version? And before/after which year, mine is late 98?

For swap, you're better off with the same model unless you want to swap steering rack, brakes, and suspension. Fuseboxes are different on the 16 so you'd have to do the wiring as well.

Sorry to see this. frown

Recommend same model. There have been numerous stories like this where insurance try to get out. Including one from myself (although a different car). You haveinsured your car and if it's a total loss it means they should pay out market value to enable you to replace it with a different car. However they then mostly come with a book that lists car values - way lower than actual market value. It is then time for you to do some homework and you come with a considerable list of cars - same type and about the same mileage - that are for sale to prove the actual market value.

The other option is to find a garage that is willing to write you a note saying they are willing to repair for x amount and that it's actually quite easy to do - an amount that you are sure the insurance would pay out. For this you could also just plainly ask them what the cost is they would pay for repairs. You then take this amount as a sponsorship to buy a car with good body and shell, and transplant everything.

The main idea in this option is to make sure they don't declare your car total loss, and use the money (+some of yourself most probably) to do the 'repair' yourself. Note you will end up with a car with a different identity, so new road tax, insurance,...

ahhh that's sh1t amigo, hope it can be saved but looks too expensive to try frown

any other coops out there? you need to gather pics and prices for the insurance so they pay you a fair amount - then buy it back and take the bits off it to sell and buy another one - it makes sense cool

It's tough to assess your own car but it definitely looks well beyond economical repair insurance wise. It's crazy how little it takes to write off a Coupe now. We've seen some 'write offs' that actually have no structural damage at all. cry

Really hate to see this, makes me cringe when i see a coupe hurt like this. If this had happened last month i would have had an either shell in burgandy that i could have sold to you.

Hope you can get it fixed, we need to keep these machines going.

Well, after so much pain in the hearth, finally found the cure: fresh looking `00s sprinty plus smile , black leather, sunroof, 18" rims (awfull ride), LED tail lights (not my taste) and etc... Generally looks good, but have the strange feeling someone had grab and throw me off 2 years in the past, and there´s a lot of work to recover that time.
There are some diy jobs, of the kind when "I don´t fancy" phrase means to not offend the ex-owner... but that´s life... hippy
Pic to follow.
