My Coupe has been garaged for the last 5 months over the winter and unfortunately the battery has become discharged during this time despite regular top ups from a trickle charger.

I have a META alarm and remote (the square fob) but both key fobs no longer open and lock the doors remotely and whenever the car is running the red LED alarm button on the dashboard is constantly flashing. In addition the key code light on the dashboard sometimes comes on (but not always).

Both key fobs are less than a year old and I've checked that the batteries in both are fully charged - so it's unlikely to be a fault with the fobs themselves.

Central locking still works when you use the key in the lock, just no response whatsoever when using the key fobs.

Never any problems with the system before and everything seemed to be working fine when I last checked the car in storage about 6 weeks prior to getting it back on the road.

Anyone had similar issues and solved them?

Basically, if you want to solve the problem yourself, you need at least one working remote. If you don't have that, you'll have to send the alarm unit to a specialist (e.g. the one above). They will reprogramme the unit and link new remotes to it.

As for the code light, that's a different issue and might be related to battery power. I'd start with putting a new battery in.

Thanks Kayjey.

After a week of no remote central locking finally it's problem solved. Disconnected the main battery for half an hour. Re-connected it again and bingo, the remote locking all back up and working. Flashing LED on dashboard also behaving itself again.

Guess the whole thing just needed resetting.
