It seems not a week goes by without a thread involving a bump in a Coupe. Today was my turn. Got out of the gates of work to find my back drivers corner free of paint (which was odd as I'd left it with some in the morning crazy ). Luckily the chap who caught it left a note. Now to get some quotes and see if he can afford it. frown

This could well be the last straw. I'm sick of spending on it. I'm gonna buy a 50 quid heap and drive/park like everyone else round work does. I don't think it's possible anymore to own a nice car. If it's not the people then it's the poor roads.

Sadly its the stance I have taken, its almost imposable to have anything nice in this world because of others complete lack of respect or plain and simple resentment / jellicy

No one gives a monkeys about basing there door in to yours in the carpark and when brought up on it your the nutter for getting upset?

Gutted to hear about the damage though BUT at least they had the grace to leave a note and admit it, I would say this falls in to the genuine accident slot and not the I simply do not care about other peoples stuff one

I think that's why I'm not too angry given the guy left a note. But he did say he wasn't watching mine and was looking at the BMW on the other side. since I got the car it's taken a battering in car parks. Too many people parking on the side and then opening the doors onto it.

He whacked yours instead of the BMW evil ?

Seriously, bad luck mate and keep the faith. There is never enough room in car parks (you would struggle to park a go-cart at Gatwick) all in the name of money.......

The coupe is by far the worse car I have owned for picking up dents, bump stops are a must now sadly

The trouble is that bump stops do NOT stop other people whacking your doors half-way along.... frown

Sorry to hear about the damage szkom frown

Like you, I'd be annoyed, but not too angry, as the other bloke had the decency to leave you a note, which makes a change these days.

I've always been paranoid about my cars in car parks and always park as far away from other cars as possible.

I think I'm even worse with the Coupe though and although my town is only 2 miles away, if I need to pop in on a Saturday, I'll get the train or bus and the relief I have knowing the car is safer at home, is a bit daft really laugh

As for supermarkets grr I usually go shopping when I finish work at midnight, so you can imagine how many empty spaces there are, but can guarantee some d1ck who's scared of being alone will always park next to me grr

The upside is he flattened the side of his mr2 smile

Hopefully get a quote on sat. Fingers crossed it's only some paint and the bumper re-jigging.

I'm always uber paranoid about leaving my coupe parked anywhere except my drive, if i take it to tescos, i always park right at the end of a row of spaces, so i can park half over the crosshatching area and half in the space.

Get some weird looks when i do it, but no nasty dents/scratches when i come back to it thumb

(except for the first time i went shopping in it after i got it, and wouldnt you know it... grr)

I drive a big old solid saloon at the moment. On the second day of ownership the front corner got swiped by a white car. I just smiled and thought to myself that it added a bit of character. Whilst shopping after I pick my coupe up I will use wifes shogun. People get out of my way when I am driving it and do more damage to their own motor and hardly leave a mark on it.

I've decided. Coupes are unlucky. Had exactly the same thing happen again today. One of the lads commented on me parking in the same space; to which I commented it'll be fine, it's like lightening, it won't strike the same place twice.

Fun times...

I think it's NOT that the coupe is unlucky as see so many cars with scrapes left by others mistakes or inconsideration. Just walk round a car park.
However on a car such as the coupe it effects you more, even slight scratches are soul destroying.
I also think that sports cars will always suffer more as they have a low front end which is hard to judge from other cars and the lack of any black rub strips means direct contact to paintwork.

Huh, sorry to hear that frown , but you definitely have reason; or we love our cars too much, or the rest of the mankind is suffering total lack of responsability (as result of the consumer society we had imo). This weekend when doing my legal-questions homework find interesting article upon the insurances, it´s compulsatory character, drivers and etc. and there was clear statement that even the basic required insurance makes the drivers to be extra-irresponsable on the road, and when taking decisions. Everyone´s response (at work) to what happened to mine was: "eee, don´t worry, nothing happened, buy new car" crazy The repair service asks for "at least 6000Eur" and the ins-agent said "that car have approximate value of 800Eur" crazy There´s the problem, unless you are mega-famous-tv-star nobody estimates the emotional value, and no emotions=no humanity.
Hope you get that sorted...and, yes, I´m also thinking to buy some diesel for 500Eur at least at the age of 20.

Sorry to hear. That's the biggest problem with insurers, they will only pay what they think the car is worth.

Well my good luck must be returning. Today my hose of death failed... just as I pulled onto my drive and switched off. That may have just restored my faith in the Coupe.

This.

The metal on the Coupé seems to be rather thin and easily dented as well.

Haha, it's kinda weird isn't it. People tend to park next to other cars even if there are only a few of them on a huuuge parking lot.
