Except this time will be different.

A quick history, as it seems to be that there is loads of new users on here who I don't know.

Basically back in July 2005 I bought a coupe. standard Broom yellow R-reg 98' 20vt. Not off the forum or autotrader, but from a mate, who had blew the engine up and replaced with a brand new one from fiat.

Bought for £3700.

Straight away need the Exhaust manifold replaced and the ICV(which broke on the way back from collecting it).

Can't remember the rest but basically by Feb 06', the engine was kaput!! Ordered a new engine from Barbx, with stage2 TI head, balanced internals, gapless rings etc etc.

So at this point, was running GT28r, 3" straight through exhaust (and I mean no boxes in the systm) and barbz tuned engine. Unfortunately, even though this went like stink (340bhp, 320lb/ft) and spooled up really early (2400rpm) I wasn't content with this and wanted more. Not before posting a 13.3 1/4 mile at crail, however. laugh

I upgraded to gt28rs, and within a week the engine was down on compression on one cylinder. All that money gone (approx £15k of spending in total) and it broke for about £4k all in, in May 08.

Cleared what debt I could and bought a fiat seicento as my run around. Due to change in circumstances and being totally gutted about losing the coupe, I didn't return. To be honest, I was young and a TAD wild back then, shown in my driving and general reckless attitude to life. Probably shouldn't even have had a coupe tbh.

Ended up with 1.6 stilo 5dr for £600 in Nov 08 and up until 22/03/11 that was my runaround. Scrapped it in the end due to head gasket, rear axel bushes and general all round work needing done.

So, as my most recent posts have indicated, I'm in a micra and looking to get another one.

This isn't strictly true however, as I have bought one (deposit down) and will be picking this up on the 28/04/11. This time however, I'm not going nuts. After spending 3yrs of relaxed non rushed motoring, I am looking forward to just sitting in a beautiful surrounding, driving a nice car and one that makes driving fun and enjoyable again. I'm not interested in making it the fastest car on the planet anymore, or drag racing it. I just want to be able to go away for the weekend, enjoying the journey and spending some time with my wife and my love (the coupe lol).

I've been clever this time, and looking to avoid previous mistakes, I have bought sensibly and for the long term, but this has come at a price. Not a cheap coupe by any means.

All will be revealed soon. laugh

Ross

Glad to have you back Ross, looking forward to seeing your new coupe as well.

I was trying to find a vid of your old coupe, I recall it at one of the lakes meets doing a flyby

Sounded pretty mean!

Great stuff Ross - I can't help putting two and two together (and probably making five) and thinking you've bought Jintel's.

Anyway, whatever one you get, hope you're good to each other.

The Sei says thanks for not killing it too smile.

Suppose that could be feasible!! laugh

I was interested, as I was at the final stages before putting a deposit down on mine, but just thought my original option was much much better value.

If you have spent your pennies ( crazy) on Jintels you are now the proud owner of a MUCH loved Coupe love . However there are/were a few other nice Coupes for sale at the moment.

Just enjoy, and look forward to seeing you at a meet soon in your new beastie............

excellent news!
I think a stock-ish coupe on good condition suspension is as good a car as any.

I'd maybe try a 2000-2002 K11 1.4, in top of the range SE+ trim if you can find it. Don't bother with a K12.

I got 50.4 MPG on last fill-up laugh

Unforuntately no. My main issue was the need for cambelt change and a few other outright costs as soon as I bought it which took it well outside my budget.

In my opinion I got something better.

Well incase anyone hadn't worked it out I've bought a standard ink black 20vt from Joe (countrycruising) and it drove like a dream all the way back. Just back 20mins ago.

Will post some pics tomorrow once I give it a proper clean and Joe can tell the full story of the car I've nicknamed "bulletproof".

Oh I know mate. But this thing has been built to last hopefully. Joe says he's never done so much pre sale work on a car.
