This is an GREAT site- you have a question, and you can usually find an answer on here without even posting up a question.
But sometimes there's too much info to choose from.
I'm looking to overhaul my 20vt brakes. I have drilled discs up front-but the holes always seem full of dirt and dust.
My rear brakes brakes are standard-with the perfunctionary 10mm or so of rusted disc where the pads are not touching.
I've spent the morning reading about different configurations and have read everything from keeping them standard to Brembo discs front and back and pagid pads.
Not being lazy- but is there an overall guide as to the best set up? My car will not be used on track.
I know...been asked a million times before-but I'd be grateful for guidance.
Thanks

Hmmm... eight thousand forum users, and probably eight thousand different views.
My own is that once the proportioning valve is set correctly, the standard rear discs and pads (the discs are punto fronts, as it happens!) are quite sufficient. Excessive braking at the rear leads to rear end skidding in tricky conditions; not good on the road.
If you're not tracking it, if you don't have silly engine mods, and if you don't accelerate and brake like a loon, the standard setup is fine.
