My old coupe is up for sale on ebay

It was written off not long after I sold to IJK on here. It was recorded as Cat C.

In the advert there is no mention of it being registered and having asked the current owner if it has an accident history his answer was no.

Now I know there's nothing at all wrong with buying a salvaged repaired car, but I think it's a little naughty for the seller to say "It's HPI clear with no record of any damage'

why dont you write to ebay and tell them this car was a write off and therefore its a fraudulent sale?

He said he'd recommend anybody who shows an interest they should perform an HPi check. He also went onto say he wasn't aware it was a Cat C and was now likely to break it.

Maybe it wasn't recorded as Cat C usually shows up on the log book whereas Cat D doesn't?

It is recorded as Cat C. Show's on an HPi report.

So does the V5 have 'Cat C' on it? If was/is a Cat C does it have to pass a DVLA test before it can be allowed back on the road?

It doesn't need a DVLA test before being allowed back on the road but it does require a vehicle identity check before the DVLA will issue a new V5. Until then the car has a VIC check marker set against it on the DVLA database.

This happened to my wife's old Clio, written off cat C due to a broken rear light and a small dent in the tailgate.
