Hell,

Caught for the first time in 11 years... 73 in a 60 limit.....straight B road just overtaken a slow moving lorry that had held me up for miles and exercised the turbo slightly too much.....straight in front of Norfolks finest road safety camera vans frown

£84 and a 4 hour National Speed Awareness scheme is the prize rolleyes

Note to myself.....when the push the throttle on the turbo....watch the bloody speedo!

More angry with myself than anything...ruined a good drive in the coupe as I still had over a hundred miles homebound and plenty of time to steam about it (saw the camera van just too late)

Hey ho...these things are sent to try us...and fill the coffers of Norfolk County Council

I'd rather take the course than the points.

very unlucky though Jon, I don't tend to look at the speedo when doing one of those overtaking manoeuvers .. just the road!

Nothing quite beats sitting behind a lorry and dropping it into third to give it some "Third Gear Magic" laugh

Jeez am I going to miss that when I sell the coop frown

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_070314 notice the item 163.

"Move quickly past the vehicle you are overtaking, once you have started to overtake. Allow plenty of room. Move back to the left as soon as you can but do not cut in".

http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=64825 might make interesting reading.

I would put money on the fact that the truck was probably doing 60 or close to it on the straight sections!

If it was under 7.5t its limit would be 50 if it was over 7.5t its limit is 40!!!

I guarantee they won't ever get a ticket for speeding! I have followed police cars following trucks doing 60 on a single track road. Unfortunately MOST police officers do not seem to know the LAW when it comes to LGV & Van speed limits. Car drivers take nearly ALL the speeding hits.

Gone Audi mad!

Caught on Camera...

Couldv'e been worse, might have been Ashton Kutcher filling it with cement or something!

Crappy times when you can't even overtake at a safe speed though, if you had over overtaken at truck speed + 1 mph you are not deemed dangerous (unless the inevitable happens! Hmm oxymoron :))

bads news indeed.

you could always fit one of those detection thingy-ma-jigs?

You were caught in a impossible situation and sometimes have to bite the bullet I am afraid.

Surely no points is a good thing?

It had been rolling along between 20 and 40 for miles...a damn great low loader filled with farm machinery. I'd originally been six or seven cars back.....unfortunately when it was clear and safe for me to overtake.....well you know the outcome......I guess 73mph was my max speed as I slowed (too late) back mown to normal velocity after the event.....

Such is life I guess rolleyes

Sign of times I guess...I'll be paying special attention to my speed in those parts now!

No points = laugh

I did have a detector a few years ago...but it used to be set off by anything with radar operation.eg. Auto doors on supermarkets etc.....used to go mad on retail parks rolleyes

But I'm definitely in the Market for a new one...assuming they are still legal

Ah, yeah they quite often have one of their pesky vans along there - in fairness there have been several nasty accidents along that stretch.

Unlucky though.

Shouldnt happen to a coupe wink

Ah well, that's life. I'll sit the course as close to Fakenham as I can find one...just take an afternoon away from the factory...

This nearly happened to me too.

I was stuck behind a lurry* for about five miles of double white lines until I reached a clear downhill stretch like the North face of the Eiger, and yes, at the bottom of the hill was a camera van!

*correct Manchester spelling
