I bought Laura's Coupe from the for sale section and it's running a stock Turbo with a proalloy fmic. Does anyone know if I'm right in saying this would cause the Turbo to spool up more slowly?

I'm not interested in chasing power figures with this one, just want a standard ish reliable coupe that performs as it should. So if the proalloy has a detrimental effect on performance I may change it for a standard one. Any thoughts?

Seriously though, do you know if I'm right? To be honest I'm thinking the money it's worth would be better spent on a flea map.

I cant imagine it doing any harm to the turbo. Surely it must benifit from getting more cold air.I dont know about the spooling though mate.
A Flea map would be spot on with the FMIC though.I imagine that would clear up any Spooling issues.

the proalloy fmic is to big for a standard turbo and will make it laggy.

It will be fine, I ran one for over a year (including 2 track days) and I never noticed any difference.

That's what I thought. I know it won't do it any harm, just wondered if the car would perform better without it.

Look OK size wise to me, have you considered a better turbo ? Not bigger, just better. OE turbos put a lot of heat into the charge, keep your IC It'l help and get a new turbo someday for the full benifit.

It looks fine fitted, very discreet compared to the evo 6 one I had on my forged 20vt. I don't want to be uprating anything, I'm happy with standard Coupe performance and if the Turbo lets go I'll replace with a standard item, but with stepped seals.

Well it would be interesting how much power the coupe could make with a fmic over the standard with standard turbo.
