Is it a pain? I take it I'll need some sort of removal pin(s)? Are they all the same, or do they differ? A link to the right set would go down like a hooker on rent day laugh

Take the centre console off, far easier and less risk of damaging the console. You can then see how to disengage the pins.

I was stuggling to remove my old unit, then got the correct removal pins and then I just had to pull it straigh out. I know mine was a Philips though (German market car).

I think there are only two types of pins stereo removal pins and as long as you don't try to use screw drivers, wires etc to remove it but spend a few pounds on the proper removal tools, it takes about 10 sec to do it.
