Was discussing this with a friend last night.
How many coops are there in roadworthy condition in the UK ?
Is 10,000 a realistic figure ?

Enjoying Coop ownership, second time round . Also enjoying RWD action in a thundering V8 E90 M3.

Less than half that IIRC.

And with that post, I'm out the door for Spa smile

Think it's been covered before but if you check the following you can find out exact numbers taxed up to 2010.

http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/statistics/datatablespublications/vehicles/licensing/all-stock/veh0120.xls

Can tell you that there are 125 VIS left (out of 170 sold).

If all else fails read the instructions

I didn't realise that level of information was available...

I've graphed the decline for each model (not sure why the 20VT is listed twice - I've added a "?" to the second entry

Amazingly, despite all the various assumptions, it looks like the 16VT is rarer than the 16v N/A and it now looks like there are around 3,200 Coupes on the road in the UK, out of a peak of 7,196

Just goes to cement the belief that the LE really is the rarest.

Interesting there is so much data available!

Ooo - I'm in one of my stats moods now...

Percentage of peak number that are still on the road

16v = 26.6%
COUPE 20V TURBO = 49.2%
COUPE 20V = 45.5%
COUPE 16V TURBO = 24.6%
COUPE 20V (VIS) = 73.5%
COUPE 20V TURBO PLUS = 75.9%
COUPE 20V TURBO LE = 60.2%

So - is the Plus the most loved, or is it only at 75.9% because it's the most recent?

Is the 16VT at 24.6% because its the least loved, the most fragile, or the joint earliest model?

Why are only 60% of LE's still on the road?

Discuss....

I did not know that data was freely available either?!
Does anyone elses spreadsheet hang when you try to search on specific vehicles though?

Remember those stats don't cover SORNed cars so potentially (although quite unlikely) there are a fair few more in storage or on peoples driveways doing nothing?

Yes - every time - I extracted the values using CTRL-F to find any line with "Coupe" in it

As with the Coupes this will also go down to how they are registered on the log book too. i.e. My LE is listed on the log book as a 20VT only.
Looking at that theres only ever been 5 Gallardo Superleggera's registered!! The otheres will be all just logged as 'Gallardo's '

Interesting though - Wal how did you come by this?
You can see the trend to not include SORN with the numbers of X1/9's. During Q1 and Q4 the numbers are always less then rise again for the 'nicer' weather in Q2 and Q3.

Looks like theres approximately double the number of Plus' to LE's left on the road....

If you leave it about 4 mins, the sheet will filter down to the one line.

Interesting info there.

Nigel, is it possible to do a pie chart? i'm colour blind an it's difficult for me to see which line are what.

you can't have a pie chart for multiple series of data over a period of time - pie charts only deal with spot data (eg the distribution of the currently taxed Coupe models)

Good grief - Think of the car on which the Coupe is loosely based - the Tipo. Anyone care to guess how many Tipo Sedicivalvoles are left on the road?

Nine shocked

Does that accurately represent the coupe models correctly though? Given that quite a few LE's and Plus's were not registered properly on the V5's

e.g. My car is registered as a Fiat Coupe 20v, no mention of a turbo or being a plus model

There is bound to be a degree of error in the figures - I've just checked a few other marques and several of them have "missing" as the model designation

I am certainly surprised that there were more 16NA than VT - you learn something every day. Perhaps even more surprising that 25% of both still survive...

(and for some reason, my machine has no problem with the spreadsheet - takes about two seconds to sort an individual model.)

Nigel - can we have a 'total' line please?

Total numbers, with trendline added

It looks like 2005 to 2008 was a period of heavy decline, but from then onwards, the rate of decline slowed noticeably

Hmmm - I've also only just spotted that the data is only "per-quarter" for the last two years - prior to that, all the data is Q4 only - this will give a slightly skewed line - I'll try to compensate...

EDIT - forget it - graph looked rubbish when I tried to extrapolate the Q1-Q3 vales and the overall shape didn't look all that different anyway

I found this on a Pistonheads forum while "at work", bit of a timewaster this as I'm sure we're all checking out our old cars.

My rarest one.... Pug 309 Goodwood GTI read

Found the Ctrl F way the best to search and thanks Nigel for doing some great graphs and stats.

I already did the numbers on that.

There are more than 9 taking into account the three models 5 door, 5 door ABS and three door variety.

Making a grand total of around 20 I believe.

Mine is one of the 9 ABS models
