Well, after buying Laura's coupe three weeks ago it's sat on my drive while I sis a few jobs on it, then yesterday I finally insured it...... and promptly killed the engine on my way Home from work. Bloody marvellous.

Not sure I did anything really, it drove fine 30 miles to work this morning and 29 miles home, then I got stuck in traffic. I knew the oil pressure was low ish (1.6) on hot idle and it sat there for about 20 mins, then suddenly dropped to near enough nothing. Swearing at it didn't seem to help but it did make a passing old dear laugh, my gran never laughed when I said that word when I was a kid.

Just bought a load of bits for it too, and spent 3 weeks ironing out it's niggles. Glad I didn't have the belts done now though.

I'll go over her in the morning and look for anything obvious, if I can't find anything I'll fire her up and see what happens.

There was no death rattle, could be a split oil pipe maybe?

There was plenty of oil in it, it was very low when I collected it and Laura admitted it was overdue a service so that was the first thing I did - new fully synth oil, filter, plugs, fuel filter.

But check your levels now as you wii know if the pressure loss is due to no oil or something more nasty

An oil hose had let go. Replaced it this morning and filled her up with oil. Fired her up and

http://s1005.photobucket.com/albums...mp;current=video-2011-06-11-13-41-44.mp4

A bit of a rattle, not like ones I've heard before though. Oil pressure at 98degrees is 1.6 bar again, like it was before.

Opinions appreciated please.

Doesn't sound great, did you turn it over a disabling ignition to establish some oil pressure first? Sounds top end at the moment so could be it just needs some time for oil to get up there and fill the lifters

Yeah disconnected the coils and cranked it over for about 40 seconds until the oil pressure rose.

Ment to do the injectors rather than the coils

What happens if you let it idle for a while? Does it make it any better?

When my coupe stands for a few days without it being driven, it sounds a bit like that until all the oil has been circulating.

True joe left mine alone for a while...tapping slightly top end then after 10 15 mins running quietens down...likely top end dry...fingers crossed no major damage
