I'm afraid its not correct no, injectors still flow fuel, and with the fuel not being burned by spark plugs the all the problems of bore wash, soaked spark plugs, CAT could be poisoned, not good

I very much doubt your looking at that level of damage for a few seconds of flowing injectors.
Which ever way, get it checked over by some one who knows there stuff Joe

40 seconds + or - , not just a few seconds, does any one know what duty the injectors are on at crank over?

Top of my head, around 3ms at ~50 cranks/minute. At worst that might make your engine a touch tricky to start due to flooding. Don't panic.

I might aswell then not worry about disconnecting injectors from now on then, I always drop the clips behind the fuel rail and head anyway(bastard to get out)

It's one of those things. Best practice is to remove the injector feed, but if you don't, you're not going to have an issue unless you make a habit of it.

Duly noted, learn something new evey day. Still uncertain what to do now, the engine doesn't sound right.

Shims are on the 16vt engine but not on the 20vt.

Does sound top end,
these can take upto an hour to calm down but after half an hour of running its loud.
If its all confined to the top end then your lucky dude.

If the oil presssures good then initial thoughts wouldnt suggest any issues on the bottom end.
Excessive pressue may mean theres pickup on the top end.

If you changed the oil recently this may have saved the engine as new oil will protect more so even if run low than aged oil.
Hope it quietens down as the motor looked quite tidy when i saw it .

When I fire it up from cold oil pressure is 3 bar, by the time the fans cut in it's 1.5 but the noise doesn't go away. Driving normally, not on boost, oil pressure is 2.5. I've never owned a 20vt which didn't reach 3bar when driving, let alone on boost.

Have you had dealings with this car then john?

I think all the coupes not just the 20vt should be on 3bar when driving ? possible bottom end oil pump damage?

If your not making 3 bar at 3k rpm plus.. Then you have some kind of problem be it gauge related or something more seriose.
1.5 bar at hot is the very minimum you should be seeing.

No mate, just seen it outside your house,
The oil pressure ideally should be at a solid 3bar if it hasnt been on boost at around 1700-2000k revs,.
If not then somethings picked up and your on borrowed time with it.

Drove it to work today thinking the run might do it good or do it in, and it drove really well. Got stuck in traffic near the A14 pile up for 25 min and oil pressure got down to 1.6 bar but no less.

I've agreed to buy Marco's inky now though, so if anyone wants a project car drop me a PM, I don't want a lot for it.
