I've just noticed tonight that one of my HIDs wasn't working. I had a look under the bonnet in the dark and gave all the wires a wiggle with no success.

So I had a closer look - and it appears that only the working HID has a ballast?! None of my other coops have had HID's, does each side need a ballast?

Here's a photo of the working side;

and the non working side;

I'll ber able to have a better look tomorrow, but not much time to sort it as setting off for Spa straight from work!! frown

Cheers,

Nick

Yes, both sides need a ballast.

It looks as if there was one on the side that's not working, as you can see the double sided tape, where it used to be.

Looking at the second photo again though, the wiring for the hid is still there!

I can see it goes under the protective cover under the bonnet, so have a look what's attatched to it.

Maybe the ballast has been moved to there, especially if it kept falling off.

Thanks Theresa - this is goingt o be a job for the work carpark this lunchtime! smile

If one of the ballasts has failed or is missing, is it just a case of removing the HID wiring and putting normal bulbs back in as a quick fix?

You might find the missing ballast on your undertray (if you have one) wink . There is a treasure trove lurking on mine; oil filler cap, tube of Autosol, and who knows what else!

Sorry Tim, but the prize goes to Theresa i'm afraid!

Had a look behind the bonnet protective cover thing and found a ballast with a disconnected cable! So all sorted! smile

Cheers,

Nick
